View Full Version : Went to JMS for tuning yesterday... (long, pics)

... met some great people, saw some real nice cars, took a lot of pics and video, and got one hell of a tune.

First off, my tune. It rained most of the day, humidity was 88% when we did the final pull. Basically that sucks... the car will show better numbers in normal weather. I'd hoped to hit 400, but it didn't happen... perhaps in some nice cool weather at SGC, or after some longtubes :twisted:

Final numbers were 388rwhp / 395.9rwtq @ 9psi, AFR was a perfectly flat 12:1. Chris is damn good... driveability is excellent. I'm not unhappy at all, given my mods.

There were some sweet cars and engines that JMS built / tuned / worked on... There was a red GT on the dyno before me... built 4V swap, D1SC Procharger. It made 700rwhp!

GT, built 4v swap, aftercooled Vortech, Saleen kit... they said they wouldn't be surprised to see this one hit 600rwhp.

This is one bad ass built 2v... SVO heads and intake with modified TB, F1 Procharger, the works.

that svo head/intake F-1 blower is from someone on corral/modular depot. He just dropped his engine and chassis off there this past week.

I almost forgot... we didn't even use the Univer! Chris said it was a POS and to forget it, the LMAF would be better... so I'm using a $50 Lightning MAF. I can sell this $400 goddamn Univer and recoup some losses. yaaaaay.

see this makes me wonder what the deal is with my car, i have 3 more lbs of boost then you and longtubes, and im only making 12 more peak hp then you. my tourqe was also 400. the only thing i can see is that you have the stock higher compression, versus my lowered compression of 8.5 to1. also are you running an X or h? i know its not all about peak numbers but i think i should be in the 420 area. what do u all think. mike

Raise the boost mike... your motor will take it. The lower CR is definitely hurting you. And shutup you still run 11s... were lining up sometime in winter ;)

Nice numbers lawrence.

The white with the vortech better not try and hit 600. Sure dont look like its gonna have enough fuel to support that. Most of the 4V guys have to upgrade the fuel system around the 500 mark. Plus he's only got 42s and I didnt see an FMU. BREAK

yeah, it's definitely the compression. You're a full point lower then stock, so 12 psi isn't gonna do it man.

throw 15 and an aftercooler at that bitch. :twisted:

I have a Prochamber, which is basically like an X... I think my compression is helping me, as well as the fact that I have an intercooler. If you put a FMIC or an aftercooler on, I think your numbers would go up quite a bit.

I guess you are forgetting where those pictures where takin at. I'm pretty sure they have it covered (if the customer has the money :)). It will not leave JMS with an un-safe tune either way.

Chris himself said it has the potential. That's a built 4v, not a stock one... I just showed you another JMS-built 4v making 700 easily, lol.
