The guys on corral.com have been talkin about how cleaning the IMRC's on the 96-98 Cobra's is a must. Me and Bo tackled this project last night at T's house. 4 hours later, the intake is all back together and it seems to run great. THey were dirty as shit too. I had to use 5 cans of carb cleaner to get all that gunk off. So Brennan, JD, T, Steeda, clean them babies out, i'll help!!
Looking at putting on new front rotors and pads and cleaning IMRC's this weekend.

Word.
Sweet. It's on. Greg, is your place a possibility? I haven't seen T but I know he's about to get his swap on, so his garage is most likely full.

It may very well be. I'll be cleaning and doing laundry all day Sunday if you want to do it then.
OK. Let me know a time and I'll try not to piss off the neighbors. I've got all the tools needed, so I'll bring 'em.

Flaps in the intake runners that close during low speed operation to give the air a longer path. They open above a certain rpm to give the air a shorter route. It is supposed to help with low end torque.:???:

cool man, good luck!
How nasty were the runners???
Mine are on hold until this weekend. Ended up spending the time putting on the new front rotors and pads. Car about fell apart shaking from braking on the way to get the carb cleaner, so I figured it was more important to avoid a crash.
Oh well, at least that's taken off my to do list.

they have the "tumble-port" intake design. it uses both intake valves at all times.
you can buy IMRC eliminators from ford motorsport... i heard they add power :)

they fucking DESTROY your low end power though. The few cobra guys out there running those eliminators are drag-only, 4.88 geared cars. :-o
The jury is still out on whether or not the deletes make an appreciable difference. The posts I've read online are from guys that are installing longtubes at the same time, so they're picking back up some of the low-end torque that they lose deleting the plates.
If you're making decent power (which I'm not:mad: ), I'd say deleting them is probably worth it since you won't really notice the loss down low. Plus you get the added benefit of getting rid of the control module, which reportedly eventually breaks anyway.
Then again, if you're switching to a blower who gives a rat's ass?;)

i wonder if you can control the controller with a chip.. (opening and closing points)
you could have fun with your power curves!
