I'm thinking about a bike also, but just a cheap old thing. Nothing special. I figure if the bike is much over $1-2k is it really worth it. $2-3k could buy a lot of diesel. $3k @ $2.75 a gallon would be ~1090 gallons of diesel. Useing around 25 gallons a week, thats about 43 weeks of diesel.

Have you ever ridden before?
If you haven't, I would suggest an entire different line of motorcycle.
n00b + fast bike = road rash

I rode for a couple years before I got a car and over the years have lost no less that 6 friends... only 2 were at fault that I know of. the others... well, drivers in this town suck. Have another couple friends that are crippled for life. one can walk (the luckiest guy I know) and the other can move his kneck but that's it. C4 quad.

dont get me wrong I love bikes but the risks for having one as a daily driver are too great for me at least.

hence my post
I rode from the time I was 15 (dirtbikes) and 18 (streetbikes) until 2003. I raced sportbikes for a full season in 2003, so I know a good bit about bikes.
I agree that the most dangerous thing about streetriding is the other idiots on the road.
But seriously.....why have a sportbike in Florida? there are no mountain roads to drag a knee on.....

i havent owned a bike but i have ridden before many times. i used to borrow my buddies bike in high school all the time.

i wouldnt consider owning a sport bike larger than 600 cc to begin with, and the only other bike i would own is a custom pro street bike which i have neither the time or money to build right now. that is why i chose these two

Have you thought about an SV?
Good beginner bike, and fun. Not too expensive and less insurance.

Whatever bike you get....it CAN be lowered.

no worries in that department. You won't be taking any curves fast for a while anyway, so no worries about suspension travel.

Ryan, get the Kawi!!!! Thats what I was going to get before I decided to get a truck and trailer instead. The 636 is one bad mofo and the Honda's seat is about like sitting on a piece of cardboard with leather stretched over it. Plus, the torque limiting clutch is freakin sweet on the Kawi. I like the Titanium Silver on the Kawi but I like the Magma Red lots more...

Ive also got a size 44(large) Teknic Perforated Jacket and some large Joe Rocket gloves Id give you a deal on. Theyre both black and grey and both brand new but they might be a little big on ya.

you've never ridden a bike daily in this town so that doesnt hold much weight.

Kawi = sits a little taller
suzukis = sit lower(most comfortable seats according to most mags)
honda = is the skinniest i think*

after suzukis i'd roll an R6, honda, then kawi

Go for the Honda hands down all around better bike. The 636 may have a few extra cc's but the CBR is a better all around performer that will last twice as long. Because its a Honda.

Just wanted you to know that I saw this post dickhead. Remember what it was like to actually have network connection at work that didn't shut on and off randomly throughout the day. Oh and let's not forget that your email will become a big hit with all of the gay porn sites.

Gas prices do suck. It really sucks because I think a good part of this is artificial. I'm not sure who is worse, the oil companies or the fricken cartel. They all suck balls.

I do really like the new ZX-6R, but would probably rock a R-6 before a Kawi.
