It wasn't the speed that killed him it was the sudden stop.

thats bad.

looks kinda like the semi was parked in the breakdown lane and the vette just hit him. I dont see any drag marks like the semi pulled off to the side of the road... Maybe the driver was not payin attention and swerved into the breakdown lane??

So what happened? No description where the pics came from? Doesn't look like a driver or passenger would have survived that shiznit.

I remember reading the post on a corvette forum online, it was one of the members. According to them he just wasnt paying attention and swereved off the road some how. He was older though, nothing stupid just wasnt paying attention..

from what I know from CorvetteForum.com your both right... the trailer was parked... the guy in the Corvette went to pass on the right & never hit the brakes.... from the pics I've seen (most of) his head was on the road 20+ feet behind the car.... speed and alcohol were not a factor.... Just passing on the right

FRANKLIN LAKES - A Westchester County man died Thursday afternoon in a crash on Route 287.

Joseph Gianelli, 58 of Irvington, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene after his Chevrolet Corvette struck the rear of a tractor-trailer at about 1 p.m., near milepost 65, state police said.

The truck, operated by Clouis Oquinn Jr., 52, of Virginia, was parked on a northbound shoulder when the Corvette plowed into it. Oquinn was not injured, officials said.
