Hey, I moved back to town not too long ago, and the last I heard, there was talk that the 1/4 mile track on the west side of Tallahassee was coming back. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks!

Some want it, some don't. As of right now, it is not comming back, but the movement to get it built is still active.

Your best bet will be to go to Valdosta. The highway 20 track that use to be open has been talked about before I moved to Atlanta in 1998 and here I am back and still talking. :kinson:

Thanks. It would be nice to have a 1/4 mile track here! My dad used to race at the one on Hwy. 20.

It was a 1/8 mile track.

Nope, it was a 1/4 mile track. The proposed reopening is for a 1/8 mile track. There is not enough property length to have sufficient shut down room for a 1/4 mile track anymore.

Uhhh, I think you just disagreed with me and then agreed with me. I haven't a clue what it was in 1962, my reference was to what the Sheffields were planning to do to it when presented to the Leon County Planning committees.

I disagreed with you. I stated that it WAS (past tense) a 1/4 mile track (you stated that it WAS [once again past tense] 1/8 mile track). If it ever opens in the future, it WILL only be a 1/8 mile. Sorry, I thought you were living in the past, like myself.

Since Sheffield has dropped the issue, it was a 1/8 mile track.
