Thinking about retiring the Crapolla and getting a truck. Looking heavily into the 2004+ F150. Anyone have any experiences w/ this truck?

I've been looking at Chevy's and Dodge's trucks too, but the F150 keeps looking better and better. Only bad thing about the F150 is that there is no navigation option. Nissan Titan has navi, but it looks kinda ugly from the rear, plus has a lot of brake problems.

Thanks, any input would be appreciated.

I have a 2005 F150 FX4 Supercrew, what do you need to know?

Hi Slush,

How's the quality? How's the ride? Is there a big difference in ride quality in the 4x4 vs the 4x2? What bed did you get? Is the styleside more expensive? What kind of MPG do you get around town? Did it come w/ a bed liner? Did you order it or pick it up from the dealer? Did you get the employee pricing? What's a good deal on a 4x2 short bed Lariat? Any problems you've experienced? I want LEATHER!

I have more Q's but those will do for now.

Phew, thanks!

I have the FX4 so it rides a little stiffer than the Lariat, but the ride is still excellent.

I have the Supercrew (4door) with the short bed

My last tank was 16.3MPG (mixed highway/city) Tank before that was 14 MPG more city driving and a little heavier on the gas (both of these tanks were driving the truck REALLY easy)

I did get employee pricing, sticker on the truck was 42,670 I paid a tick over 30K

I requested that the optional bedliner to be removed, I am getting a spray liner.

The employee pricing +rebates is the best you are going to do on the truck, they weren't very flexible on the price since it was already so heavily discounted.

My truck was on the lot, it was exactly what i was looking for.

I can't really give you much advise on the 4x2's I never drove one, I have had no issues with my truck..and it is LEATHER :)

Wow, that is one expensive truck!

I was hoping to spend around $20k - $25K w/ leather, 4x2, supercab, lariat, do you think that's doable? I guess 14mpg isn't bad for a full-size. My V8 beemer gets 15mpg.

Are there any rattles in the truck, is it pretty solid? How many miles you got on her now?

Did you buy it locally? Was the dealer good to deal with?

Yeah, it was expensive, but that is EVERY option all the way down to power pedal and park distance control.

I have 3400 miles on the truck now, she is rock solid, no rattles, squeeks or anything of that nature.

I bought it locally, probably one of the best sales persons i have delt with, his name is Perry Weems, if you talk to him, tell him Andy Burgess sent you ;)

You can pick up a used ford truck for cheap, you can probobly find a really nice one, and if you look hard enough you may even be able to pick up a mid mileage king ranch (rawhide > pleather)

Thanks Slush.

X, yea I noticed that. Although I prefer new, I'm not opposed to used. King Ranch OWNS! Haha yea any leather > cloth.

boooo the F150. if i was going to buy an truck (short of an L) i'd buy an F250 SuperDuty PS Diesel. that is the best truck on the market, IMHO. i'd buy a used one....you could find a low mile-used one for a decent price.

Why the F250? Is it because of the diesel?

Why the F250? Is it because of the diesel?yes, and you can make them hella fast. but i like them in general, they are just cooler.

The ford lighting is fast too with the 5.4 supercharger and lighter but being an owner of an F250 i can agree with travis too even though mine is a V10

yeah except the lightning gets like 10mpg on a good day and the PS gets like 15-20. you could get a nice 99-02 f250 for 25k and it will last you forever.

i know a guy that just picked up a 04 F350 lariat dual wheels for like 22g out the door. i didnt think that was all that bad. miles were decent too. he got it at the All American Ford East .... guess he means on Magnola.

I dont think you'll be able to get that price range on a new one. Mostly because if its anything like the chevy trucks, the supercab adds about $4000 onto the price. Shouldn't be too hard to find a low mileage '04 for that price though.
Personally i like the style around '01, they had alot my character IMO. But my wife loves the new ones, she's dangerous enough on the road with her mid-size SUV though. lol

http://www.getauto.com/autolinks_cardetail.html?x_dealer_id=AACLR&vinNum=1FTPW14524KC98814 I've always thought this one looked awesome, and my wife works at this dealership so i might be able to get them to cut you some slack.

I get 17mpg hiway on mine. Best ever was 18 all cruise control at 75 mph. There are 2 red L's in Dothan on Bondy's lot. You can pickup 1 for 20-25k. There is a built 1 in Cali for 30k(2002 model) putting down 620hp/7xx tq.
