and I must say, I am not a fan. I think that Nissan did a lot better with the 350Z and Infinity did an even better job with the G35 coupe. I dont know what it was about the RX-8 but it just wasnt a good looking car. He did rev at me a couple times but my car was running at 200+ degrees and it was kinda wet so I didnt race him or anything but who am I kidding, he would probably would have walked me.:(

What do you guys think about the RX-8?

i don't like them either. they just look craptacular with the 4 door design. the rx7 was a sweet car, too bad its successor is that appealing.

Sweet, an overhyped, underpowered POS rotary to beat up on. Bo, you'd probably work him. Car and Driver pulled a 14.9, who knows what a good driver could do, but I doubt a full second quicker in that thing.

Here's something to make you laugh... Max Torque: 159 ft-lbs @ 5500 rpm

I think theyre cool, the styling is interesting and the car moves pretty well for a 4door. I dont think I would ever own one because I need to have torque. But, I can appreciate the uniqueness.

Its not meant to be the RX7s successor, and yes that car (RX7) is a bad bitch. 8)

I personally think it's a smooth looking car, but it's clearly not even in the same class as the old RX. It's so different and is aimed at a different market segment. That having been said, it's likely that Mazda is aiming this car at former RX7 drivers- they just have wife/kids now and are "persuaded" by hen-pecking spouse to buy:

1) a "sporty" car (so they don't feel old)

2) a 4-door (to allow for transport of little hellions age 0-10)

3) a more sedate car because wife has beaten former-street-racer-turned-husband/father-of-two into submission and won't agree to purchase of a car that promotes former street racing habits of same.

Here is Bob, a young man at a crossroads in life. We can see him now, poor chap, the thought bubbles popping up over his head in cartoon-style fashion. The man, a sedate 32-year-old American male with a bitch for a wife and two screaming toddlers, sits in the dentists chair awaiting his long-overdue root canal and trying to find anything to take his mind off the beating his jaw is about to take. He sits alone, awaiting the commencement of the concerto of highly-polished tools that will be rattling around inside his soon-to-be-flip-top head and reading the latest issue of Car and Driver:

"Let's see, I'm too owned by my wife to buy a car with power, too young to drive a minivan and too cash-strapped to buy a nice SUV. Hmmm, what's this? Hey a compromise from Mazda that I can put a bottle on! Shit, who am I kidding. Carol will find it. SOMEHOW THAT BITCH FINDS EVERYTHING!"

me and my girlfriend saw a red one yesterday, so we decided to run down to the mazda dealership and check it out. i thought they were pretty nice...i like the interior. she loved it, and said she wanted one..........till we saw the $35+ sticker...then these words came outta her mouth.."fuck that. for that kind of money i could get in a 03 Cobra with a built short block and blower!". i told her that the car made around 250 hp which kicks her cars ass (she has a 96 Gt thats stock), but i said it didnt have no torque.
as for car and driver....they only got a 13.8 out of a 99 LS1 Z28, so im not too worried about what they say. im sure with sticky tires and an 8K launch (!) theyll go 13s. or they should at least have a decent trap speed since theyre all up top. LOL....14.4@105 i can see it :P

Yeah right, no fucking way is that thing going to trap faster than 100mph. It's true that Car and Driver can't drive, but even their article stated they dumped the clutch at 8k. From a roll it's even slower... I bet a v6 mustang would give it a serious run for its money from a 15-20 roll. The bottom line? Over-priced, underpowered POS! :D
