On my 1999 Camaro w/ a 3800 Series (3.8 L) V6 Gen II w/ a 4-spd auto trans. a connecting rod to one of the pistons broke and pierced the cylinder wall causing coolant and engine oil to leak. The cost of getting this repaired isn't too far away from just buying a new engine and pulling the old one and dropping the new one in. The thing is, I'm not very familiar with mechanics and auto shops around the Tallahassee area. Anybody that can recommend me to an auto repair shop or a mechanic that has the right equip to do an engine swap that is reliable and experienced and that will charge appropriately and will guaruntee their work would be high appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

plus, any recommendations with any considerable V6 short blocks full/standard equipped for about $2,000 - $4,000 brand new or remanufactured? Anybody know of a good place to search for remanufactured crate engines?

Just to take into consideration. Have you thought of dropping a 350 in there?

MARKS AUTOMOTIVE on Orange Avenue does great work. He is across the street and down the road a bit from Compitition Paint & Body.

if your wanting a simple oem drop in i would do one of those jasper motors. they have one of the best warrantys out there. they are a little more expensive than a discount or autozone crate motor but alot better quality. or do the V8 i bet you could find a used motor and spend jsut a little more. thanks
