I got a Locking 3:55 rear end out of a 02(i think) F150 with the 4.6L. Its the 8.8 rearend. Mine is the 10.75.

Will it fit under my truck??1999 2wd

The only thing we can see is different is the wheel studs. If it will bolt up, can I take the wheel studs out of my rear end and put it in the 8.8???

Why? You're going to take a rear end that is marginal when stock under a Mustang that's at least 1000 pounds less than your truck and replace a very strong 9.75" rearend. Don't. If you still ignore this suggestion, you're going to want to find an 8.8 out of a later f-150 that already has the 14mm studs. I don't think they'll fit in the 12mm stud holes. You're also going to want to make sure you get an abs rearend if your truck has rear abs. You would also need to recalibrate the computer if you change the gear ratio so your abs won't screw up and your transmission shifts correctly.

We just got done doing a test fit. It works! The only difference was the 14mm studs on the 8.8. But..I have 14mm wheels, so all I am going to have to do is buy/find some 14mm lug nuts. So it should be in by this weekend. Until then, gonna clean out the old fluid, Replace it with some new. Slap some cheap paint on it, and bolt it up! Gonna take progress pics also.

I seriously doubt I have enough power to break it. But until that time comes, I will be spinning two wheels, not one. And I have a spare. Also...I paid zero dollars for the rearend. That why I figure, what have I got to lose???

Perry invented the "flip front end" trucks! We got a plant down here just for that!

As for the welding. People have told me that. But I dont want something to go bad because of the weld, and me be without a rearend.....

all yo needed was a posi, so you swapped an entire rear? why not just sell the rear to fund a posi?

Mainly because I am impatient. And I dont have the funds, to have a posi unit installed and a shop. I dont have the know how with gearing and lockers and such. A rear end swap is on the easier scale for my know how.

You will prob bust that rear end/locker before you would bust a good weld.

Have your brakes been acting funny?

Does the locker mess with the abs?

New rear end went in very easy. Almost to easy. We tested it out, and its holding very well!! So no problems yet, and hopefully there won't be.

Pics soon.

In the words of Tweeder......"its nice.....its..NICE!"

Didnt get to do much spinning, due to the already slick tires on the back....
