My brand new front brakes seized half-way up today. Fuckers were smoking when I pulled over. God I'm so pissed. Tire Kingdom needs to tow my car back to their shop or some other one and fix that shit. They better give me new pads, cause the ones on there now can't be any good anymore, and the rotors are prolly warped too.

I hope it's something simple, but I'm between a rock a hard place right now. I got a shitty situation going and I hope I don't get kicked in the ass because of it.

I have seen it happen a few times. The calipers will run back in just fine, nice and smooth, and then lock up down the road. Especially the ones with the fiber pistons. It is hard to place blame, because if they run in fine and pass a release test before putting the tires back on, then there is no way to tell if a caliper is going to stick later down the road. It is one of those situations that is bad for the customer and the tech.
You can tell if it is a bad line by jacking up the bad side and pulling the wheel. Pump the brakes until the rotor is locked. Then break loose the bleeder on the caliper. If some fluid shoots out and the caliper unlocks, then the line is bad. If not, new caliper time. It also makes no sense to replace just one caliper. Hope you get it sorted out.

Travis, you need any help with it (other than actually working on it)?

As far as I could tell it was both fronts. I would assume if only one of the fronts was locked or clamping that that car would have been pulling pretty bad to that side at 45mph and it wasn't. I also don't even know if the rears were locked too, I just know the fronts were cause they smoked and the wheel was really hot to the touch, I touched the rear drums and they were hot, but I'm not sure if they weren't just normally hot or not......All-in-all, I have no clue what's wrong, the tow company is going to call me within the hour to get it towed up there.

Similar thing happened to me on my truck once when I did pads, they didn't lock up but they did get very hot and smell like brakes. I think the new pads can aggravate a worn piston. New calipers actually aren't very expensive at all if you get them from Autozone, Discount or wherever, probably less than 30 for both.

yup, this was the pass. rear side. The one thats thread for the brake line got stripped a few months ago. 3 days waiting for it, and I got a remanufactured one with new pads. Yes, that one :wtf:
Then flash forward to thanksgiving. I was driving on I-10 and thankfully I had just got off the off ramp and that tire locked up and then let go. Drive some more to get out of the way, then it locked up again making the worst noise and I had to ditch it in a parking lot to go eat dinner with family. Got it towed to TK yadda yadda yadda.....
Went back to Discount and bitched, got new caliper and pads to replace it for free. I had to go out of town but Lloyd fixed it while I was gone. It had like a chunk missing from the caliper. Lloyd saw it.
Havent driven it since thanksgiving when it crapped out.
The fronts are fine, I'm never touching that side of the brake line that had to be reflared evar..
= If I knew this shit would have happened I would have vette brakes now. :owned: and the inside of my wheel is scratched.

This was best described by the phrase "MAJOR structural failure"

I have not driven it yet, but it seems to have been a bad master cylinder. It's ready and waiting for me....no charge!
