I know some of you know about this...Could you a little help on the subject...or if someone wants to do it for me, I will pay for dinner and beers.
Basically what I am looking for, is the NES pack, a big HD, and be able to "back-up" my games to the HD

solderless I could do on my own, except the bios and such I was looking for recomendations on chips and such...I just dont really have a steady enough hand to solder that chip well

It's a software exploit that lets you change the 'dashboard' and pretty much have the same features as a modded xbox just without a chip. I have all the emulators (NES, SNES, N64, Sega etc...) and apps on mine. It also lets you play backups and store them on the HD. I haven't done one with a larger hard drive yet, but as soon as I get around to copying all of my PC files to my new HD i will.
I do not believe it will work with live though.. I'd have to check on that (i've never used it).

Softmods are NOT for xbox live. The minute you log on with a softmodded machine xbox will black flag and ban your machine... So dont even try it...
But there is a modded xbox live network known as Kai... The games are a bit more limited and such... but still a good place to go live for modded boxes...
Also, the chip is not as important as the Bios... That is what really makes the machine tick...
