View Full Version : Inexpensive, yet decent paintjob?

As much as I'd like to be able to drop $7,000 for a show-quality paintjob, I cannot afford nearly that much - more like in the area of a couple hundred bucks.

I'm doing all the prepwork myself with dual action sander, a *little* bit of bondo (sand to metal first), and a lot of rattle-can primer (self-etching) - finishing up with 600 grit wet sanding. I'm hoping to get the last of the prep work including aquiring two missing body effects in the next week or two and being ready for spray.

I had intended to take it to spray-glo or maaco, but was wondering if anyone here could do a decent exterior-only spray on a shoe-string budget?

From what I have heard maaco does a good job on their real paintjobs, its just the $300 that sucks.

try and talk to donnie at universal collision. he does awesome works and prefers to trade his work out. maybe ya'll can work out a deal. he may not want to do a really cheap one though

I did my truck in the driveway with a gallon of limco catalized urethane that cost $130. Prep is the biggest time consumer.
