View Full Version : I denounce this bullshit superbowl

The Analysts, John Madden, and my lifelong hardcore steeler fan uncle have all said this has been a bullshit game.

Offensive pass Interferance = complete bullshit, maybe you should call a penalty on them hitting to hard.

Rothlesburger gets stuffed at the goal line and the ref changes his call half way through.

Should be 10-0 Seattle, they have beat pittsburg up and down the field and the refs are trying to give bettis and Detroit a victory. Pittsburg doesn't get a first down until 19 minutes into the game, and only have points because of the refs.

The coverage has been all pittsburg, those sappy little trophy comercials have all been steelers.

Watch, some one in the half time show will have a steelers jersey on, just watch.

I'm not saying the Seahawks should have won, I'm not saying the Steelers shouldn't have. But I wanted to see a fair game, and this was nothing but the refs giving it to the Steelers, it was complete bullshit and everyone knows it.

If it would have been a real football game and not this rigged bullshit, I would ahve admited defeat with no problems, but it wasn't and anyone who can't admit that just needs to drink some battery acid.

That ref had a better view than anyone on the field, and he must have seen something to deter his call. BTW that was offensive pass interference, you are not allowed to lift your hands and push off the guy covering you.

I think you should stop blaming the calls and think about how shitty Stevens is, and how he droped so many balls. You should also take into consideration the fact that the play calling in the end of both 1st and 2nd half was some of the worst ever.

Im not a Steelers fan, so dont even try to come back and say that.

We should not let them tackle either, some one might get hurt. If they are going to call that interference, why did they not call a horsecaller (another pussy rule) on Porter when he drug down Alexander from behind?

He scored one of the only touchdowns not called back, the drops are from his inability to play football.

Playcalling wouldn't be an issue if they were up 10-0 like they were supposed to be, and the 2nd half was over before it started.

Tell me Will, how is a tackle an illegal block? Who was holding on the touchdown that got called back?

Im not a Steelers fan, so dont even try to come back and say that.

i agree to a point, the seahawks had a hell of a first half and should have gone into halftime ahead. Definetly some shitty calls made.

On the other hand, i think the second half was a pretty decent ballgame and for the most part they got beat fair and square.

.................and i lost 60 bucks

The more you complain the more your team will win, or so I heard. I never said that the officials did a spectacular job, but they reviewed some of the plays that were in question and if they cant see enough evidence they cant overturn them. That was offensive pass interference, go read the rule book.

"It is pass interference by either team when any player movement beyond the line of scrimmage significantly hinders the progress of an eligible player of such player’s opportunity to catch the ball."

" Initiating contact with a defender by shoving or pushing off thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass."

You didn't answer my questions, Will.

I dont know why they didnt call the horsecollar one. It wasnt as blatent as the pass interfernce where a ref watched the push off. I dont know why they messed up the rothlesberger illegal block. All I am trying to get across is that the refs did just as shity as the coaching/play calling. Lets run on 3rd down with no timeouts, lets throw a ball to someone 2 yards infront of the line of scrimage with no timeouts in bounds.

thought it was a good game. there are gonna be calls made that you think shouldnt have been called in every game. but they are the refs. and thats what they are there for. admit it, the seahawks did a completely horrible job of clock management!! the kicker for the seahawks missed two long fieldgoals, too. better team one, and thats that!

He didn't exactly push off, He just sort of put his hands on his chest and then turned to the right. The defender just jumped backwards after the touch and made it look like he got pushed on account he has the r/t of 1 sec. I would have to say that was the play that killed the seahawks. Their morale was just shit afterwards. And horrible play calling in the final quarter... just like the last superbowl.

You can not extend your arms in that motion, they get called for it no matter how much contact was actually made. If he would have not extended his arms and made the motion there would have been no call.

It is pretty sad that the officials had the impact on the game that they had. I don't know if it would have changed the final outcome, but it sure would have made for a more exciting second half. I'm a Dolphins fan so the outcome of the game didn't mean anything to me, and I'm happy to see Cowher get a championship ring because he seems like a good guy.

Great teams overcome adversity, Seattle didn't. This game was no worse than the bullshit calls in the Indy/Pitt game, and Pitt still came out on top. The players just gave up b/c a few bad calls, get over it. If Seattle's players could catch balls they wouldn't have been in this predicament.

J8127
02-06-2006, 06:05 PM
Yea, that would have helped, but so would not being penalized on the catches they did make? Catch at the 1, holding is called when he didnt touch anyone. Two plays later its picked off and then 15 yards for illegal block below the waste on the guy making the tackle. A few bad calls is an understatement.

This crap happens in every big game, the Texas USC game, everyone of Pitts playoff games, florida vs UF games, makes you wonder if its about the better team or the team with the most money on it at vegas. This was one of the best superbowl matchups ever, both team very well matched for the other, it should have been a game decided by a last minute field goal, instead it was 21-10. Great teams overcome adversity, but not when they are playing another great team (Im not taking anything away from the Steelers, Im saying the refs ruined what could have been a great game). How do you overcome going into half time 7-3 instead of 10-0 against a team like the steelers? How do you overcome all your big plays being called back? Holding occurs on EVERY play, why was it NEVER called on Pittsburg? Why did the ref change his call half way down the goal line? Why is a tackler making an illegal block?

Bryan02TA
02-06-2006, 07:10 PM
If hasslebeck woudn't have thrown the interception, he wouldn't have had to make an illegal block/tackle :)

I will take it to the grave that the tip of the ball crossed the goal line. That play doesn't matter anyways, they would have gone for it on 4th and a millimeter and gotten it :). Every person going for seattle will say it wasn't in and everybody going for pitt will say he made it.

I'm with X. He's clearly stated that the Seahawks definitely didn't play as well as they had all season, or even that they would have won the game. It undoubtedly would have been a different game though. I think you all need to step back and look at the context of his posts. Nowhere has he said Seattle would have won without the bad calls, they certainly didn't help themselves. Anyone who thinks the officiating was flawless needs some serious lessons in the rules of football. The pass interference, holding and low block calls made about as much sense as the leaping penalty against the Bucs three years ago that cost them a game and led to a two year downward spiral.

Again, would Seatlle have won? Probably not. Would it have been a completely different game without the BS calls? Absolutely.

jlaw
02-07-2006, 07:45 AM
I agree with X as well. Not taking anything away from Pittsburgh, but you simply cannot disagree with the fact that if the officials had done their job correctly, it would have been a different ballgame.

The low block penalty was the icing on the cake of stupidity. I'd love to hear an explanation for that call.

02-07-2006, 07:59 AM
To me it looks like most people are not disagreeing that they were bad calls, they are just agreeing that X is whining to much about it just like every sports channel. There was bad calls, it happens so much, it may have been a better game but I don't really care that much unless the Bucs are involved.
