aight, I have a question: got a 94 camaro, originally v6, dropped an LT1 in it and used the v6 alternator in the conversion. now my alternator is dead, and i want to use the 1997 z28 alternator because it puts out 140 amps vs. the v6's 105. hook ups are basically the same, the only thing i have to change is the belt size and drill out the hole for the battery hook up a bit. I dont think that there should be any problem, but it is a 35 amp jump in power, and i really dont want to fry my electrical system... both use the same VR375 voltage regulator, im just double checkin myself before I hook everything up tomarrow night.... Oh, and I am looking for a set of LT1 valve covers and a used opti if anyone knows of one available!

If your car has only the stock electrical system running of the alternator there is no need for more than 105 amps.

it should work. i have a pair of crome valve covers with fel-pro gaskets if you wanna look at them. just repost and i'll give you my # if you wanna check them out. i would also call jerry's electric for a second opinion, just ask for jerry. he knows his $hit.

most people who do v6 to lt1 swaps dont use the v6 accessories, so i would assume it works without probs. the fact that it uses the same regulator and is still a factory part, would reassure me enough, but i would still double check by calling b/c electrical work > me.

I am well aware cuz i've personally been involved with the repairs all the times i've broken my rear. i've never taken it to a shop and paid them for the little things they've did or didn't do in the few months they kept it. how 'bout you?

i've never paid anyone to do a motor swap for me, i wouldnt know . did your car sit for over a month the 2nd to last time you broke a rear end? i figure you would know after you've blown up 3, or is it 4 now? i lost count.

there is a difference between you and they. comprehension>you
waiting for parts for 2 months isn't as bad as waiting for someone else to do the work for 2 years
