That's how long it took to put a new motor in my car and get it to me. I FINALLY got her back at about 2 today.

Worst service experience EVAR!!!!

I'm so happy to have her back though.

I finished detailing it the day before it blew up and the paint was untouched for more than 7 weeks. I was also surprised at how clean the car was. It definately needs a good bath, but is still relatively clean.

I probably won't have time to wash it and may not even be at Sonic. I have a certain green car to attend to and I have a MONSTER test on Weds.

If I have any time this week, I might try to clean it up and enter it in the car show at FFW. Just something I'm kicking around.

congrats on getting it back, and it actually running :tu:

on a related note, I actually washed my car last night. That's a huge accomplishemnt for me, I used to take pride in keeping the exterior of my vehicles spotless, then I got burned out on it. So, even washing it is a huge step for me :D

but we should have done more burnouts with the crossfire.

My intentions were to waste the tires on Sunday, but Saturday nights festivities kept me passed out until 4 on Sunday and then I was at Kinson's until 8 or so.

I had big plans for pics and everything. I just ran out of time.

Zymol is what he meant to say, it is different from Zaino.

I would recomend going onto the Meguirs website, they have a forum there and you can figure out what you need. All the Meguirs stuff I have had experience with has worked great.

NXT Tech Wax, although it's not the most durable of all waxes, is a pretty good cleaner wax that you can buy at Autozone, Advanced, etc. It's really the only cleaner wax I've used. I usually stick to clay and polishing to do the cleaning and then a pure carnuba to do the waxing.

Zymol is pretty good though.

In terms of durability Zaino is excellent. However, there are a lot of products out there that will yield equal or better results with less steps. Just my $.02

Thats what I hear but haven't found a "total best" replacement just yet. The most I find are a list of different products from different vendors used by everyone but nothing everyone agree's on.
I'm just looking for the best possible thing to detail with to make it look better than zaino.
IIRC there are about a dozen steps to do it just right. But the durability is proved great with zaino, look at paul or dereks cars. It was applied back in early jan then with just a wash and a spray of a detail spray it looks good as new. I put some on the wheels and the dust comes right off. I'm looking for a better alternative for myself...cuz it is damn expensive. Smells great tho:D

51 days of down time is minor league.

It's going to vary with every car. Zaino may cost a little more, but when it comes down to ordering other products, you will probably be within $20 or so of Zaino. The good shit can get really expensive.

It does have GREAT durability, that's absolutely true. In my one experience with it, I was wholly unimpressed with the depth, pop, and wetness. Now, I know you can achieve that with Zaino, but you need a WHOLE bunch of layers (I've heard of some insane people putting more than 100 layers of it on their car - that's something even I wouldn't do). IMO and experience, you can get great depth and pop with far fewer steps.

I also think that there really isn't an all round best combination. Every car and paint is different. The only thing that remains constant in detailing is the process.

I know it sounds like I'm bashing Zaino, but I believe A LOT of their popularity and status is based on internet hype, not actual results....<- I think I've said that in every Zaino thread posted on this site...lol

That's true, but at least you get to see yours everyday. I hadn't even seen mine in 7 weeks. I was starting to think it was just a figment of my imagination.
