i'm not. i can't do anything i want to now. i've been having back problems since last aug./sept. when i hurt it working at the bowling alley. it slowly got worse and worse. when i came home i worked with my dad doing construction and uncle doing landscaping. in late jan. i started having pains down my right legas well as pains in my back. not muscle pains, but like a nerve pain. i started going to a chiropractor and it would help a little. he did adjustments and acupuncture. these last 2 weeks have been really painful. i finally got an mri last night and i have a herniated/bulging disc in my back. the L5/S1 if i'm not mistaken. its sticking out far enough to put pressure on my spinal cord and pinch my sciatic nerve. i have to make an appointment with an orthopedic specialist to discuss my options. its going to basically be surgery or injections. either way sucks though because now i can't play any sports at all, i can't work outside or anything, and i can't work on my truck. i just not got all the parts to pull the motor and trans and work on it. i'm supposed to be going on vacation next week to orlando as well. now this also means no roller coasters, which really blows.

basically in short, i hate going to the doctor and i put this off until it got really bad, and now i'm paying for it. if any of you have any problems like this, don't wait until you can't walk straight or function before you get it checked out like i did. this has been your public service announcement for the afternoon. have a good day.

One of my dads friends did the injections, they work, but he thinks hes gonna need to do the surgery. Then again is he about 50 years older than you.

Sorry to hear man, hope whatever happens turns out for the best.

get well soon, bro. good luck with whichever option you decide. if neither helps, sstony has some pills that should do the trick, just dont ask what they are.

Wow that sucks...I put off my shoulder surgury for too long and I ended up having to having a more extensive procedure and rehab then if I would have needed if I would have taken care of it when it first gave me problems. I hate doctors also...but I am not avoiding them anymore.

This kinda scares me, I've been having back trouble for about 4 years, but it's recently gotten worse. A lot worse. I went in when it first started but the doctor said he couldn't do anything, go to a chiro. Went there, it worked, for a while...

Perhaps an MRI would be a good idea.

Best of luck man, keep us up on how it goes.

i would definately suggest the mri. it showed a lot more than the xrays did.

scooby, did the injections help you at all?

That sucks man. I had a bulging disc in my back last year. I didn't get out of bed for about two weeks. Getting up for anything was extremely painful. Luckily mine got better eventually, but they pretty much told me if it happens again I won't have any other choice but to have surgery to fix it.
