View Full Version : Steering Racks

I am trying to decide if I am going to drop a manual rack in to the 92 coupe or leave the power rack in there. It's not a daily driver, but I really don't want it to be a pain in the ass to drive. Is it worth the trade off with weight, and reduced drag on the motor? Also, does a manual rack respond and give better feed back than a power rack?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Its only gonna be a pain when you are stopped and going really slow, like loading it on a trailor. If it were me, Id ditch the power steering. I know this isnt anything you didnt already know but thats how I would do it.

It will take different caster and chamber settings that may not be ideal for high speed cornering, but other than that go for it.

Manual rack is much better then a bypass'd power steering rack. The cheap way (still not as easy to turn as a manual rack) is to connect the hoses and keep fluid in the rack. Also helps them not wear out.
