Where to buy Methanol Locally

I'm setting up my new progressive alcohol injection system and I want to run straight methanol. Anyone know anywhere in town that sells methanol?

You could probably get it at home depot or lowes or another hardware store.

With the kit that I have I could run anything I want, but straight methanol is where the power is. When using mixes, you have water which doesn't burn, so its pretty much just taking up space in the intake charge (although it does help cool the mixture). Eventhough methanol doesn't cool that mixture as much as water, its auto ignition point is extremely high. So by running straight methanol you get cooling and a huge increase in octane. There is alot of rumors that running straight methanol is bad or something, its not really true, from what I've read and seen at the track, I haven't seen anyone running mixes making more power than people running straight alcohol. I think its more of an issue for people cause the kits they have can't handle the straight methanol.

I have alwayse heard the point of the kit isnt to make any more power, its to act as a chemicle intercooler and allow you to up the bOOst. The Grand Prix guys using this stuff now run -20 washer fluid, and drop intake tempts by 100+

Yea, you're right it is the main point of some of the kits, but atleast in Turbo Buick engines, the octane increase plays a HUGE role. When tuning for our cars you actually tune to make the methanol part of the fuel, so I have to turn my gasoline amount down. But what I'm saying is that most people just don't know about the added benefits of the straight methanol for octane issues. Hell, I didn't even know about till like a week ago.

No, its just an alcohol injection to prevent detonation for high boost on pump gas. Actually is an Alky control kit. I picked it up from Julio on my up to Tally yesterday. It will be replacing my old SMC alcohol injection kit. I'll get to spend all day tommorow installing it and tuning it. :mrgreen:

By the way, Steve's Race mart (I think that what its called) on woodville hwy has methanol also, I just picked up 5 gallons.
