Much thanks to BrandboZ28. Helped me(well more like I helped him, lol) fix my intake manifold gasket leak. Even runs a little better now, probably cause of cleaning the throttle body. I owe ya big. Thanks to Greg for letting me keep the car in the garage over night to let the RTV seal properly. Now I cant get the top A/C vents to blow air. Its always something. Later.

Well, it did take him about 5 times to fix his right the first time, so he should know how to do it well now...  :P ....

Only 3 times thank you very much:D but no prob Justin. If it leaks, and it might:oops: just let me know, Ill do it again:lol: If you can, check the hoses running to the vents to see if they somehow got knocked off.

3 times... hmm... :)

I was wondering if maybe they got knocked off when I started it for the first time after the fix. It made a loud ass popping noise, idled high, then came back down. Runs great though, even without that missing piece of hose, haha. Atleast I dont have a broke A/C and leaking intake manifold to deal with at the same time. Id be about ready to drive it off a cliff if something else went wrong. These cars can be finicky little bitches.

Vacuum fitting somewhere is loose possibly

Or that hose you guys lost is the vacuum fitting Andy is talking about.

The reason why it idled funny is because I cleaned the TB and all the carb cleaner residue had to be burnt off, mine did the same thing. I didnt think about the vaccuum thingy so that might be it. I dont know why its just 2 vents but oh well. Im glad its working for ya so far.

Vacuum fitting about middle of the way down on the right hand side of the intake manifold. Goes to a vacuum check valve, one connecition is the manifold, one goes throught the firewall to the HVAC system vent controls, the other to a vacuum canister just in front of the right fender, kinda below the battery. Will make you idle a little faster, and you won't get the upper vents to work cause they ain't got no vacuum.

Edit: Check valve is a funny lookin little dude on that you'll find on the right hand side of the firewall it has three connections - pic is here

Vacuum tank is here:

Hey Justin, I just thought of something. remember the 2 lil vacuum lines that we couldnt remember where they went, maybe we crossed them up and they just need to be swapped. MAYBE:shrug:

Bo,

If your talking about the two on the right hand side of the manifold, (passenger side), one goes to the FPR the other to the connection I'm talking about. BTW My AC used to do that I just chucked the check valve and jumped it straight from the manifold to the connection going into the firewall.

I almost forgot that we talked about switching those vacuum lines if anything went wrong. I think 93zm6tally is right about the missing hose. It makes sense. It is on the right hand side of the manifold about midway down a little valve sticks out of the manifold leading to what I believe was shown in your first picture. I'll go check it out today and see if thats right. Crossing my fingers.

Well, I replaced the missing piece of hose and no dice. Top vents still not blowing. Bo, do you remember where abouts those two hoses were that we talked about switching? I looked for them but couldnt find em. I thought they were on the drivers side towards the rear of the intake manifold. Guess Im gonna take it to get checked out somewhere tomorrow since its too fuckin hot to go without A/C. You guys got any other ideas?

Do you not have AC or is it just blowing from the lower vents. If it's just a problem with the upper vents not working, it's vacuum cut and dried. If the AC isn't working whole different game. The vacuum hose that controls the upper vents runs from the right had side of the intake, (passenger side) to the vacuum check valve on the passenger side of the firewall near your PCM. Try bypassing the vacuum check valve by connecting the hose from the manifold directly to the hose that goes through the firewall. 10 to 1 you have a cracked vacuum hose, they're actually plastic not rubber and get brittle when they get older.

That sounds right to me. A/C is blowing from bottom vents, just not the top vents like you said. Good to know its not an A/C problem. Im gonna try bypassing today. Thanks 93zm6tally, youve been very helpful.

BTW I don't think it matters whether you use the top or the bottom vacuum hose, both fittings are just manifold vacuum. Like I said one goes to the FPR on the back of the fuel rail, the other to the vacuum check valve.
