The best tip I can give you is do the cooling mod while the tranny is out.

A few things, the transmission and bell housing come out seperatly, take advantage of this fact. Put the shifter in after you have filled the fluid, the fill plug on the tranny is almost impossible to get to.

This trans has been making a nasty high pitched whine/squeak for a few days. Sounds like a TOB issue. Ive heard these trannies have some issues with them. He ordered a Spec clutch w/ TOB. What about the retainer sleeve, should he replace it? Would this work http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MCL%2D8%2D118%2D1&N=0&autoview=sku
EDIT: Got everything unbloted but the damn DS wont come out. WTF  That bitch is stuck like chuck

Did you try pulling it? That's how mine came out. You definately want to put the newer style bearing retainer/sleeve in there while you're in there.

I tried everything with the DS. It seems seized up. The way I did it on my T56, was to slide the DS toward (inside) the trans and the rear of the DS came loose. On this bitch, the facker wont budge, foward or backward. Hope the splines are not fucked up on the DS. Ill keep trying.
Bo, just received the thunder DIY plug wire kit and RAM clutch. Ordered the slave and heater hose from GMparts yesterday. Those are the last parts im waiting on... with GMpartsdirect I might be waiting a while :joystick:

Got the DS off... just needed a little persuasion from a 5lb sledge. Removed the trans but the two top bellhousing bolts are being lil bitches. Took my 1000 ft/lb impact gun to them... and still nothing :nut:

Try jacking up the front of the motor slightly to get a better angle and more leverage, possibly?

I second the motion.
