My plan is to buy a used supercharger from a 5.0 and convert it to fit my car. I have 2 choices ATI or Vortec, the ATI is intercooled and the Vortec is not. I want to run 7 psi so do i need intercooled or not? Also after i get the supercharger what else will i need? From what i have read i dont have to upgrade my fuel system but i'm not sure thats true? I know jon used to have a supercharged v6 that was a Vortec, but i'm not sure the hp # he made. The web site i looked at said with 7 psi i should be making 270 rwhp.

ati
For anything under 10 psi, intercooling is not needed. It will help some, but not somthing needed. I've never been a fan of ATIs.

ATI, for LS1s and chevy they rock... fords seem to like vortech... unless you are jon.

why get the kit for a 5.0 and convert, when you can get a V6 specific blower from either ATI or Vortech?
with the blower youll need to upgrade your fuel pump, injectors, mass air and have a chip burned for your specific needs.
the procharger is self contained, and ive heard issues with them not sealing properly. also, youll need a blow thru mass air since its intercooled. ive seen problems with tubing also not wanting to stay clamped on also (the ati's are metal tubing with sections of rubber in between).
id go with the vortech kit...i have one and know many people who've had their vortechs for years (one guys had his since 97 and just now is having the head unit rebuilt).
vortech lists hp based on the kit with stock everything else...getting headers and good flowing exhaust will just amplify what you were already making. if you made x hp with 7 lbs of boost, opening up your exhaust will make more hp per lb of boost because of less restriction.
have you looked at any of the V6 mustang places like supersixmotorsports? i know theyve got forged pistons and sc coupe rods for the V6s. im sure youre motor will be fine with around 8# of boost and the stock motor with a safe tune.

get a procharger all the way!!! you dont *need* an intercooler, but its icing on the cake. With 10LBS, on a completely stock motor except for exhaust, and the necessary fuel upgrades it added 239 horsepower. thats 510WHP.
but lets be realistic.. i know you wont gain 239 horsepower on your V6, but if you put it in percentage, my motor picked up 88% more horsepower. factor in 88% to your 190? mean.
otherwise, get a turbo. they are gettin big for six-bangers now. badazzzzz!

well another reason he wont gain 239 hp is, yes his car is a V6, but your car has 4 valves per cylinder and 2 cams per bank....which just happen to looooove forced induction...
and there are a lot of benefits to running an intercooler...more timing, more boost, less chance of detonation, whats not to love? ill be getting one, one day
On my blown/intercooled V6, I gained 104rwhp/90rwtq or something close to that.

Drop a 5.0 in it and be done. Russ, your my friend, and I know that I'm going to be doing the work. For the same price, just let me build you a real V8.

V8 V6 mustangs are bad ass, especially if you keep the "V6" look to em!

get a v8, you can supercharge a v6 and it may beat me.....but it's still a v6 and it doesn't have the mean sound the v8 has. my .02

what i was thinking was buy a used supercharger for the v6, run it till it blow maybe 2 years, and then drop in a 5.0 or 5.8 and use the same supercharger with different brackets, hoses, etc. The time it takes to blow up i can be getting the v8 and new tranny ready.
Swap in the 5.0. Helluva lot cheaper. Like T said, he's already got most of what you'll need.

my tranny will mount up to a 5.0, not a 4.6
I believe G-Force may have the proper swap bellhousing to put a T5 behind a modular. Bob Cosby is running a G-Force T5 in his 01 Cobra and so is Boss330 on the Corral, who has a 4 valve 5.4 in his NA Cobra that runs 10's.

built 5.0 is still cheaper than a built 4.6 when starting from scratch
