So you buy the car with the bottle. Then pay $400 + install(if you can't DIY) so the bottle becomes functional. Then when you spray you void the warrenty on the motor? What kind of fucked up reasoning is that?

I thought it was only illegal to have the bottle opened up. You could have it hooked up and run legally, but if the bottle was found to be "turned on" that then it becomes illegal b/c it's intent to use or some cop bullshit like that

Correct. Also, to buy that part you must provide proof of ownership and a VIN. So your warranty is fucked, even if you never spray.

The reasoning I can't explain. I guess its the same reasoning that made them put dual center-exit exhaust on a 4 banger, a shopping cart wing, etc, etc.

i got pulled over in ga on the way back from the track for having a headlight out (friends car) and the nitrous bottle was sitting in the spare tire in the back hatch (crx) and the cop didn't mention anything about it. Line hooked up, i think it was still on too.....anyway, just thought i'd mention it. Later.

You actually can't have the nitrous bottle in the car if you get pulled over. But unless you're doing something REALLY stupid, they don't care if it's IN the car, just don't have it hooked up to the lines.
