View Full Version : Dyno
So I've been thinking about buying a Dynojet for Jaws Racing, I'm trying to decide if it would be able to pay for itself around here. Also looks like I would have to have it in Quincy, unless I want to pay rent.
So should I buy one?

Please, for the love of god, buy one. If you are reasonable on pricing i think you could get your money back out of it. I am also sure it would make a big difference in your new tunning venture.

I would say yes for sure, because now since you have the ability to tune as well as a couple of others on here it would turn it self around. Plus I think there are a couple of people on TI who tune but I don't know for sure. Plus I see people coming to you someone they know, other than going to people they don't know at all to trust with their cars.

Doesn't matter to me. I live in Destin so it's not that big of a deal. I have to pass Quincy on my way to Tallahassee!

Please Tony, Quincy isn't that far. Hell for some of these folks it's closer than some of the meets.

Which model? If you get the 224xlc then you can auto tune with efilive fairly easily. I'm having a hard time finding road to hit the tables from 150-180
It would be the 224x at first, and if things went well I would upgrade it to a LC. 1500 hp/tq capable and 200 mph.

I don't know what the price diff is but I need a load dyno for the tuning I need to do... Im probably the only one...
$15k price difference, and yes I know LC is better for turbo tuning. The LC is still on the table, I just gotta work out all the details first.

how far is quincy compared to SGC
how far is quincy compared to SGC
a lot closer, especially if you are on the west side of town.
plus I'm probably going to go with it above ground with a lift. So its easier to move in case I do want to move it. Plus it would give me a lift also.

$$$$ :) I can use my dad's warehouse for free. Keeps the overhead down. Even has a nice office space for people to hang out while your car is dyno'd/tuned.

if you're refering to my post...
a. i know tony lives 10 mins east of town, and likely driving 20-30 miles west of town gets old, fast.
b. diesel isnt $2/gall
c. a dyno day, or a visit isnt that bad if you only drive it every so often. but if he spends that kinda $, he'll be out there as much as possible i would guess, which might mean daily.
Also, I have thought about making it a mobile dyno also. Another reason to not get the LC, the LC makes it too wide for mobile use.
Patrick

Mobile would be awesome. Track day and dyno at the track FTMFW!
Have you thought about Dyno Dynamics?

There is only one dyno that I know of in town and he charges $75 for two runs and he didnt even buy it, he bought the building and it came with it.
Welp, if it all works out. I might have a dyno with in the next month or so. :)
It will be a dynojet 224x

Good choice on the dynojet, now all the idiot ricers will come to you to get higher numbers.
What's sad is I'm being serious.

Same here,Mccans is to high on price.

this would be perfect when i decide to boost the bimmer and have to tune it with megasquirt, i'd definately buy about 3 hours the first time, and then it'd get smaller, but you'd have a LOT of business for about 6 months.

I would definitely be in- however, with this setup you can't delete thrown codes- ex o2 sensor trips and egr stuff can you????

Last time was 75 for three pulls but they said they was dropping it down to 60 for 3 since noone showed up to thier dyno day.

I can do just about anything to the Ford Computer with the SCT software, can easily turn off the 2nd o2's and egr.

I don't want to step on anyones toes, but I have HPTuners and can do most any GM vehicles. Single credits are ~$49.99 and MOST take 2 credits. LS1s are 2 and LS2s are 4. I've been getting some in depth lessons from a tuner in Australia. Hopefully be getting real good at it here shortly. Very easy to delete/turn off codes, disable cags, etc... Should have a good time next week when I tune my car.
I think the only catch is that the computer needs to be either stock or previously tuned with HPTuners and not locked.
Tony, how much do you think it will be by the hour? This will be pretty cool man.
We still have to sit down and work out the #s on that. I can do some GM tunin with SCT also.

I have EFILive flashscan V2. Licenses cost 99. I have something like 9 available on the cable. It does LS2 LL8 and has a variety of custom os's speed density, boost, etc. Nice thing about it is future upgrades are free for life. I'd be willing to loan it for dyno tyme or whatever.. :D

so, do you have experience with megasquirt tuning? i'd love to get a basemap and get it on a dyno and get a real partial throttle map + a bit of custom tuning for a good amount of hp on a stock m20b25. some people have broken 200whp on a stock m20 with a custom ms tune, and i'd like to be one.
