Aint that the truth. I'd rather stay with BDU's and DCU's too. I'm wearing the shit out of mine until they tell me next year I cant wear them any more.
It was a dumb idea. Like the velcro on them was. Not exactly tactical. They tear easier too. If they were smart they would have woodland and desert, but that would be twice the cost. I like the improvement on the ta-50 though. The gear works alot better than a pistol belt and suspenders

I was talking to Denton the other day, what I dont understand is who decided you could blend woodland and desert camo. The thing is way to green to hide in the desert, and way to bright to hide in the woods. Is that the case?

I think what they were trying to do is a mix of both....I.E. When you are coming through a forest on the outskirts of a town and your objective is inside the town. Not a really good example but you get the point.
These are the 2 that I will continue to wear.

No, what they were trying to do was create a color that would blend in well with urban environments like in Iraq. But if we ever got back into a jungle environment, we'd be screwed.
That should tell you that the army is planning on being there for awhile.

The ACU blends into the forest pretty damn well, better then the BDU in some circumstances, worse in others. Its quite easy to camo yourself against (large) trees, dead leaves, or rocks with the acu, especially at night. I think its a more versatile uniform, but the velcro sucks and like he said, they do tear. Shitty. Our batallion has already changed over, and we cant wear the bdus anymore.

Yeah im not crazy about how they look but i love the features. BDU's were supposed to be the same way though when they came out and then some douchebag, probably finance or personell, decided to starch it and press it and then it spread from there.

That's the only thing about the velcro... hard to press them without melting it. The pockets on the knees and elbows for the pads dont make it any easier.
I tore 2 new pants while I was at benning just by kneeling down. Weren't tight on me at all. And when you get close to people the velcro sticks...lol *rip*
Originally you werent supposed to press the BDU's either. But they dont have the problems getting pressed that ACU's do. ACU's dont take heat well at all. Thinner materials. Not to mention, have you ever seen someone in the field who has a starched or commonly starched set of BDU's on? they glow in the moonlight. Found that out the same night I looked at myself piss with the thermal goggles
Gotta love the infantry.
