Rear Diff. Questions

As some of you know I took a 10.25 LS rear diff out of my truck, and installed a locking 8.8. I got bored today and decided I was gonna keep it, and install a locker.(maybe gears) so I took it apart....as far as I could go without help.

My questions are:
-From the pics...what do I do next to get the ring gear/pinion gear out? I pulled the axles, spider gears(think thats the term)

-If I decide to leave the stock gears in it and install a just the locker. Could I do it front this point?(see pic) or is it more complicated? What all is involved in putting in a locker?

There are caps at each end of the carrier (the thing you pulled the spider gears out of that you didn't have to) unbolt them and pull the carrier and ring gear assy. out. To install a locker you will have to put new carrier bearings on it and you will also have to unbolt the ring gear from your current carrier and transfer it to the locker. Upon installing your locker with your current ring gear, you will have to set up the backlash as well.

Don't forget to feed the unicorn and sprinkle some pixi dust on the gears.

So....from that. I get that it would be better to buy the locker, and take it to a shop. So the backlash among other things are done correctly. Cuz I aint got a dam clue about diffs.

hey dude get up with me over the weekend and i'll give you pointers on the rear end its no big deal at all. Although i personally like the 8.8 i have never had a problem with mine and you know what it goes through. Don't know what gear you have but i have a spare set of 3.55s I'll be at work tomorrow drop by.:nx:
