Help!!!!

ok my talon redlines at 7 grand i can go through first like no other and second is pretty good up until about 6 when it starts like not wanting to go and stutters kinda and when i let it go all the way to 7 in second there is like a loud pop form the engine or something like fomr the intake or othere and i dun know what the problem is if yall have heard of this or know what is is plz could u give me ur opinion thanks

An intake backfire is a sign of a lean condition. You might want to check your fuel sytem first.

and im pretty sure im runnin lean. ha ha very funny dominating since 79 yeah i know im gonna get a lot of crap for havin a 4 cylinder but hey its better than what everyone has a civic or integra

Could be as simple as changing a fuel filter, or you may need a new pump. Dirty fuel injectors are also a possibility if you have alot of miles on it.

yeah car has 86 grand on it. could mods like a header intake and exhaust cause this problem like maybe im not gettin enough fuel into the engine

Sure. If you increase the engines ability to use more air you have to accompany it with fuel. I don't know much about modding your type of car, but you may need to look into an adjustable pressure regulator. Check fuel filter first and then go from there.

This is EXACTLY my problem! I have headers, true dual not-so-legal exhaust, open element air cleaner and ported heads, bigger valves and a cam and I go lean as poop above 3800-4000 rpms. I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on the way and am gonna get dyno tuned in when I go home at the end of this month (might be middle of next month if it doesnt happen this time). I am was thinking about replacing my fuel filter as well, I'm not sure how long it has been, so I figure its been long enough!
