View Full Version : Cost of welding in full length subframes?
Anyone know what the going rate is for welding them in? I got the Global West Full Lengths with the seat reinforcements.
Carlton charges $200 to do the full length MMs, I doubt yours would be any more difficult...
 You've GOT to be fucking kidding me!! I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. How hard can it be to run a frigging weld around two plates and a couple of tabs per side?
Sorry, Jon. I don't mean to be ranting at you, but that just seems absurd that anyone could possibly ask that much. I'm sure Carlton's welding is top-notch, but I can't believe it costs that much to accomplish what's necessary for the install, at least on the ones I picked up.
If that's the case, I'm gonna have to find somebody else- I've got other things to do with my money.

werd 2 bills is crazy. Got mine welded for $75 down here
I think I'm going to go find the guy that "will weld anything" and call it a day. Sheesh. Thanks guys- I'm glad to know that there are other options out there that work. :)
Rant all you want, lol. I was there for the entire install... have you looked at your SFCs? It's not a simple job, there are a LOT of welds that need to be done properly, and the MMs are fully gussetted.
If you can find someone who can and will do the job (it took Carlton about an hour and a half IIRC) for a lot less, more power to you. I know mine were done right.

damn yall, talking about flying off the fucking handle.
Yes Carlton charges 200 bills to install MM subframes, less for other manufactures subframes. The reason is, MM's are gusseted the entire way, they also have the bars that go under the seatframe.
There.
Mine have three gussets per side, and I got the seat reinforcement brackets too. I'm sure Carlton does the best job in town on subframes. I just see it as something that can be done properly without asking as much. Maybe mine would be cheaper since they don't have nearly as many gussets as the MM full lengths.

1. as stated earlier, the MM subframes have about 8 gussets per side. The welding time is a LOT more then other subframe connectors. Carlton did mine, and charged me 200 bucks. It took him about 2 hours total, with about 1.5 of it under the car welding.
2. Your avatar is ridiculously huge. how's about triming it down a bit? same goes for other people with these huge avatars.
1) Carlton does overcharge
2) He is good, but he is not the best in town
:)
So Tony, when are you and your life-partner Paul going to finally exchange vows? 8)
