I went to the track when I was home this past weekend. I skipped the water box and it got about .1-.2 quicker but still crap. 1st and 2nd were out of the question, spun half of 3rd and chirped 4th. I already knew the sumi's were crap but after the exhaust and tune it made it twice as bad as before.

The question is what tires would be best for max traction and a DD with decent tread wear. The tires will be on my spare set of Cobra R's but I switch them out every 3-4 weeks and also drive 800 miles round trip on the highway at least once a month. 275's would be ideal 315's look like crap and hang over so no on them.

So far the 555r's are out of the question because I need more than 9,000 miles out of the set.

maximum traction and 9k + miles dont go together. BFG's and Mickey Thompsons get less mileage than the nittos.

If I do end up getting the Nitto DR's is there a big difference in traction from a 245/45 to a 275/40? There is a a $50 difference per tire.

I got about 12k from my BFG's, not too horrible for DRs.

are you debating between stretching and not stretching?

stretching a 245 drag tire to a 9" rim isn't a bright idea.

I am talking about putting the 245 on my stock rims or 275 on the cobra R. I am just trying to figure out how much of a difference there would be in contact patch between the two.

Sounds like you need 2 sets of tires. One for the track and one for the road. Get a set of 275-40-17s for the track, they fit on the stock Bullitt wheels just fine and will give you plenty of traction. I can get a 1.56 60' on them in the 88.

I wanna see the timeslips! What are the new numbers? Sounds like they could be better.

New numbers are horrible. the worst reaction time of the night was in the .2xx's best 60' was a 2.0x and best 1/4 was 13.624 with zero traction.

the terms "new best" and "OSW" dont usually go together.

if you don't atleast get nitto DR's--you'll be getting your ass spanked on the street due to wheel spin.

for the track--slicks. there is no substitute

that must be driving like a puss and no track days....no, but really it differs per user/car

sstony is right get DR's or you will spin on the street and lose to stock GT's... it's paying the price of having a somewhat fast car...

I think thats what I will end up doing. I think I'm going to put them on the Cobra R's, that way I have 2 full sets. I have 315 Nittos on them now but they hang over and have no tread left... They have enough for a couple burnouts and runs though.

This is all you need to hear Matt...you have 2 sets of rims, now just do it already!!

the first set I had over 100 passes on. 2nd maybe half that.
