Suggestion #2, make it impossible to see anything on the board without being a member.
Suggestion #3, make it so members have to register with an email address from either gmail or a private service. No yahoo, aol, hotmail, msn, etc... accounts
Suggestion #4, delete every account with 0 posts, or who haven't posted recently.

Suggestion 2 sucks. All my E-mail accts are Yahoo or MSN or Hotmail which I know is MSN but its free and I can use them for the BS. You will eliminate 80% of the ppl trying to join by eliminating all those accts.

Kinda the point, besides it would be for new members, not existing ones.

Yup. It always pisses me off when I go to register on a forum and I can't use my hotmail address.
I also hate having to register to read one thread on some board I'm never going to look at again. I feel like a lot of sites do that just to increase the number of members to stroke their e-ego.
I believe Tony does a spring cleaning every once in a while for those accounts with long periods of inactivity.

Other boards aren't having peoples shit stolen off of them, and there are probably 100 accounts with 0 posts.

That part I agree with. Unless they are known by someone on here they need to be deleted.
I think they should be allowed to search the board but only in limited sections if not a member. IE just the lounge maybe tech.

even accounts that have been active for 6+ months and have less than 10 posts should be deleted, with exception to out of town friends(SCT guys, Gomer, Bo White, etc).
if its really that big of a deal, they'd participate or resign up.
tmca purge. do it.

Calm down, Columbo. Where do you think I saw all the shit about the stolen 03/04s?? SVTP, Need2Speed, Fuelslut, etc. I don't think a few stolen things over the last year necessarily means this site is being targeted and we should lock it down.
Edit: For the record, I have no issue with deleting inactive accounts. I know Tony has done it before.

Those are much bigger sites, when it comes down to it, TMCA is a board that like 20 of us really use, the same people who post here regularly are the same people who show up at Sonic and Tsans, partly because if they don't they eventually get run off, partly because we are all friends and thats just how it is. Everyone on this board who is really involved has met everyone else, it's not like that on those other sites.
The email thing might be drastic, but I've seen it done on other boards, but it is absolutely time for a purge and some privacy settings. How many threads on this board have been so epic that they got linked to every forum we know and had thousands of views a day like the guy with the tranny porn screenshot or the guy who poured simple green into his cylinders? Oh yea, zero.
like Brandon said, if some one is actually active, they will rejoin.
I don't know if you can set the ban message Tony, but perhaps you could ban the 300+ people nobody knows and have the message say "email me if this account is active and I will unban you. Accounts who do not reactivate will be deleted after 2 weeks."
I don't really like the fact that my friends are having their things stolen, and Tony has people creeping around his house at night, a purge is just a simple step to get rid of all the crap, and with some privacy settings (I would think the lounge would definitely be one of the places you wouldn't want people without accounts seeing), and the introduction rule, we can keep better tabs on people until they work their way in with the crowd.

I think its more of a coincidence that its happened to these people than anything. There are a lot more than just 20 people that post here on a regular basis and unfortunatly, bad things do happen to good people and in this case, a group of bad things happened all in a small time period. Thats just how I see it.

i don't think the things that got stolen has anything to do with TMCA i believe it was CRACK HEADs

The thing at Tony's house last night might have been crack heads or kids up to no good, but the things missing from Nate and Amy's I feel is someone on here or someone that a member took out there. Where the bike is/was CANNOT be seen from the road. You can't even tell there is a building out there hardly. I hate that it happened.. I hope the asshole(s) get caught and put on front street.

i check these boards from the library, friends computers, ect... and it would be a hassle to log in...... I say it would be a good idea to make it so that you have to log in to see certain area's though

i login at work everyday from different computers. its not a big deal at all.
I am not making the board invisible to users not log'd in. That just gets more BS accounts made.

I like having a local board set up where you have to register to post or see anything but introductions. But it's Tony's site, I like the idea of making people post an intro, if you wanna know how we set it up on TI, PM Will or myself.

I set it up the other day for new users to have to make a intro post. It will only affect people that signed up after the day I made this thread.
