View Full Version : Anyone know where I might get hold of an engine rack?
Doing longtubes this weekend and I need to find one of the racks that sits up on the top edge of the engine bay next to the strut towers and attaches to the motor to support it from the top. Todd had access to one, but apparently it isn't going to be available for some time. Since we're dropping the K member to do the install and I don't want to have to support the engine from below, this would be of great help. Any leads greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I'll just stand on the bumper with a chain thrown over my boner to keep the engine from falling.

Sorry to rain on your parade JD but Im pretty sure that there is no way that we are going to be able to work around a cherry picker. The garage just isnt deep enough. We would have to leave the back of your car or the cherry picker hanging out of the garage overnight because that is not a one day job.

If you guys need a longer garage, my garage is long. With a car pulled in there is at least 6 ft. in front of it.

Sweet offer! Thanks a ton, but we ended up working it out to do it at Tony's. Stop in and laugh on Saturday if you get out that way.

Head out Tennessee Street going east past Capital Circle(which becomes Mahan Drive as you go east). Go past Buck Lake Road, and past Pedrick Road. Maybe a mile or so past there (if that) is Tony's house. It's right on Mahan Drive on the right side. There's a low chain link fence about fifty feet off the road, with the house (hard to see) about another 50 feet beyond the fence. Look for Greg's yellow GT and Bo's yellow Z28.

Go out Mahan (Tennessee turns into Mahan, East of town). My house is about 4-4.5 miles past Capital Circle. There is a red light at Pedrick road, then my house is right off Mahan on the right side. 5707 Mahan.

Depends on whether we can get a place to do it. I would have preferred to have done it this weekend, but I PM'd T and he said that both his and Andy's fox cars are down and are filling his garage. He says it's probably going to be several weeks before they get them out of there. I'm ready to do it if we can find a place to work on the cars side-by-side, or if someone has another workable option, I'm flexible. Shit, I'd do it on the street if I thought I could get someone to help.
I don't know how big Tony's carport is, but if it was a 2-car port, maybe that would be an option. I don't know if it is or not. Since the weather is so nice this weekend, maybe if there was some place we could park the cars next to each other within reach of tools, that would work too.
As it stands this afternoon, we're planning on doing this header install. If swapping the rears this weekend is an option for you, and if there's someplace to do it, I'm all in. Any ideas?
