my wife an i are trying to figure out where our deposit went that was supposed to be credited back to us. we sat down with a person at the main office and it seemed like she just gave us the run around with a bunch of numbers on paper. she also told us we only had one more till to the tune of $85 which later got paid, then 2 weeks later we get another bill for $22. then out of no where we get a letter from a collection agency saying we owe $110 dollars from a past due bill to the city of tallahassee utilities via said collection agency, which we were never notified or had any knowledge about this supposed past due bill. we think they are trying to screw us out of our deposite. if anyone has been here before any help is appreciated.

Get everything in writing, and then have the person you are talking to sign it at the bottom.

You do save your paid bills, right? Take them and see where the numbers fall. After one year they typically refund your deposit with a credit to your monthly bill.

You can also look up your past bills for a year I think on the citys web page at talgov.com under utillites.. good luck I work for the city (not in that department) and they said I used 500,000 gals of water in one month..no help at all.

as far as I know they dont return deposits anymore, when you cancel service, they automatically put your deposit against your last bill and then sen dyou a bill for the different if there is one. That is what they did to me and steph the few times I have moved now.
