it always kind of worried me how they can track vehicles the way they do now.

I've been doing some research after hearing some scary stuff about what they can do. I like the fact that if somebody steals my car, they can shut it down completely, track it's whereabouts, etc.

They can also do other fun things. Some people have reported that their cars were "diminshed in power" in subsequent runs after OnStar detected they were at a track or racing. I don't believe those things so much, but other things I do believe. People have gotten calls when OT'ing their cars for excessive G's pulled (Vettes and other cars have lateral accelerometers), calls at the drag strip for repeated excessive speed.

Some people have chimed in saying they have loved ones or know people in the OnStar center and what they can do is "scary." Listen in without your concent or knowledge, call you without notice, etc. People have reported that after purchasing a new car, OnStar now CALLS THEM IN THE CAR to ask how they're doing, and if they want to take advantage of the OnStar for 3 months free. Imagine that, you get in your car, then a phone you have no knowledge of rings, then is automatically answered and some dude asks you how you're enjoying your new Red Denali, then tells you where you're located down to the stop light.

That'd be awesome. I hope they don't listen in on the stuff that gets talked about in my wifes car, cops may knock on my door anytime now lol

Intresting.

Shame that not every police chase is done in a Chevy or they may be on to something!

GM has offered to license the technology to other manufacturers for this purpose
