You probably already knew this but ProCharger now has a system for your car>

And the first Mach 1 with cracked rods...

I wonder if the shaker scoop is still functional...I would think that if you try and cram boost in before the scoop, then most of it would just get blown out through the scoop. They had a centrifugally blown mach 1 in MM&FF (I think) and the scoop was no longer functional. I think that is the only way they could do it, unless they did a roots setup...then it might work :???:
If you're serious about it I know a guy from online who has a blown Mach1 auto, he's running in the 11's now I believe.

I would not put a blower on a mach1 engine. Maybe a turbo, but I think N/A is the only way to go unless you do a forged rebuild. I want to try to get it into the mid 12's with bolt ons before I get rid of it. This is assuming I actually make it to a track....
Just curious, what's your reasoning?

shitty rods and pistons. I'll wait and see how some of these guys get along with their power adders on the mach engine. If it holds up well, then I might consider a super charger, if I keep it.

Same as on an 01 Cobra... a good tune and moderate boost and your motor will be fine... boost doesn't kill, detonation does.

I did not know the 01's had powdered metal rods, 10.1:1 compression, and aluminum rod and main bearings. Besides, I have not heard of any 99 & 01's living a long life under boost. Then there are other issues like this tr3650.... I think I will try and max the car out first through suspension, gears, and maybe a 6 speed tranny, then go to a turbo. Again, I think turbos are where it is at right now.

The only differences I know of are that the Mach has the 03 cobra heads and the 5.4 truck exhaust cam, maybe intake cam as well, not sure, and maybe a different intake? The shortblock is virtually identical, though. Same hypershit powdered metal rods, etc. I think it's very similar to the Marauder motor. As you said, the Mach has a 10.1:1 CR... the 99/01 Cobras have a 9.85:1 CR. Not too far off, and yes, high enough to demand low boost.
Obviously when you boost a stock motor, you're gambling. The length of the life of that motor is all in the tune, though. Aside from the parasitic loss that a blower would bring, 6psi is 6psi. A turbo won't really be any safer on the motor. Getting it tuned by someone who knows their shit is way more important. The TR3650 is pretty stout (mine held up fine) but yeah, you'll need to replace it. I dont think a T56 will be much better, even the Viper-spec one, if you plan on making huge numbers, especially with a torque-happy turbo.
There are turbo kits out too BTW

aftermarket supercharger + stock internals = dead motor

Yeah, we know.

Ticking timebomb. A good tune can negate that, but you won't make much power if you stay safe enough to not hurt the motor. To make power on the stock shit, you really push the envelope =\
Yeah, we know.
oh I forgot that you know everything

Just ask Homer

Not everything, but I happen to be friends with the guy who makes a twin turbo system for the Mach. PTK makes one also. Obviously we knew that turbos existed, why else would we be discussing it?
Just ask Homer
Homer found out the hard way that the stock ATI "tune," if you can even call it that, sucks bigtime. =\

Of course you knew there were kits, maybe Mr Mach didnt know?
Just build the bottom-end, 8.5:1 compression and throw a ton of boost on it. Should be a fun car.

My 96 has 19K miles and the internal's are still stock. It's pushing 12 psi with the aftercooler and no sign of any trouble at all. :D Just be sure to get a good tuneup at a shop.
