Long story short, I went to three body shops (Xtreme, Roslunds, and Tally Paint & Body) and all three wanted at least $1,000 to just roll the damn fenders. They're all saying how it'll take like 10 hours per side and they'll have to repaint the whole quater panel blah blah blah.

My question is this, can any of you guys help me out or at least point me some tips on how to do it without fucking it up too much? I was going to grind it, but I've decided against it since I don't want to mess with the spot welds. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm sure you could find something on LS1GTO.com in the wheels and tires section. There are a bunch of people on there that have done it.

use the fender roller tool and a heat gun. make sure you have touch up paint for when it cracks. i think riceman used the heat gun but the cracking of the paint was unavoidable.

if you don't want to use the fender rolling too, get a Louisville slugger.

Honestly, mine are rolled as tight as a blunt, but I cracked the shit out of the paint in the fender well. You cant see any paint cracks unless you put your head in the wheel well and look up, but they are there. I used black touch up paint to seal the crack so they would not spread or peel.

If you want to do it right it takes some time and patience. You need to heat up the paint pretty hot, but not too hot....vague I know. You will want to work in sections because the wheel well is not perfectly round. Slightly roll a section, then move on to the next section and roll it about the equal amount. Work your way around the well and repeat it over and over until they are rolled the desired amount heating the area you are working on each time.

I would help, but honestly I am not comfortable doing it on someone else's car. If you screw it up you can get ripples in the fender that are quite noticeable.

See, I really don't want any ripples or shit like that. Does the one riceman has come with a heat gun? I would do it myself if someone could just help me out who's been through the process instead of me really messing something up.

What are the details on your wheel tire combo? What size and offset are the wheels going to be? What size and brand are the tires going to be? You may be better off just getting stiffer springs in the rear to keep the car from burrying the tires at all.

i need to roll the lips on my fenders too, but i'm not too concerned with screwing it up, as if i have to, i'll just cut notches, and fold it up.

I have a wagner heat gun that I can loan out as well. Like Dustin, I'm not fond of the idea of personally doing it to someone elses car though. Mine cracked, but I just sealed the paint. Nobody ever noticed unless I told them.

I'm going with staggerred 19's AZA-Z15's in hyperdark. The rears are 19 X 9.5/45mm offsetwith a 265/30/19 Nankang tires. I am not 100% sure I will have to roll because I do have a cradle alignment but most likely I probably will.

Well, if it cracks it cracks so long as like you said no one can tell unless I say something. But any help would be appreciated for a noober like me :)

that's a really high offset.. but, i don't know anything about GTO's, and fitment. My sentra is running a 7 inch wheel with a 35mm offset, and it's just about perfect, but the suspension is so soft, that it likes to rub when i turn..

I'm willing to help you, but i've never done it. I'd love to do it to my car, and learn, and then help, but I'm like the others, I don't want to take a chance with someone elses car.

I don't mind doint it myself, I'd just like to know if someone can kinda guide me so I don't fuck anything up.

I've got a grinder I can loan out, but claim no responsibility. If you do it the right way (carefully that is), a grinder would work too, then just go over your grinds on the inside of the fender with touch up paint to avoid rust, cracks, peeling

Grinding seems ALOT easier and much faster/effective. I am just concerned about the spot welds. Some people say that if you cut them then the fender will collapse down the road, not to mention I'm not really fond of sparks on my car.

throw some masking tape any where you dont want sparks/shavings to land. we are talking about the rear fenders right? I dont see why you couldnt grind those down, I mean we are only talking about 1/2 inch at max right? ....... you could also throw in some drag bags, gives the car a nice rake in the rear, picks it up by ~1.5 inches +, it would help with your wheel clearances, and wheel hop

Thats what I was thinking. I understand my Integra is much older than your car, but I rolled the lips just fine with a BB bat.

yeah, mine were rolled with a jack handle wrapped in electrical tape. just be really careful.

You guys are all pussies, when I rolled the fenders on all my old fox bodies, I just did it with a ball pein hammer, worked like a champ.

There's a big diference between a GTO and a fox body. Better looks, price, performance, technology, prestige, value....:heather20

It's just that I dont want to botch up the car which means a lot to me.

if you are soooo worried about, bite the bullet and have the shops do it. that way if there is any issue, you have some kind of guarantee.

if not--bite the bullet and spend some quality time with the fender roller.

I'll probably grind them down to the welds since it's muh faster and there's no ripple effect.

Oh, Tony you forgot :rice:

eh--this is a serious concern that you want ended so i figured i'd help rather than hinder this time.

i always thought if i had to do it, i would grind. but i'm sure my sphincter would be on edge while doing so.
