Three of us went fishing yesterday and we ended up limiting the boat out by 2pm. Thought I'd share some pics... What a day to forget to bring the camera on the boat.

Plenty of room on the boat man. This winter weather is rather unpredictable which makes for last minute fishing trips. I can't wait until the summer when we can actually plan ahead.

any trip where you limit out is a good one. esp if you do it earlier in the day.
damn gas prices make it hard to get out there nowadays

We burned about 40 gallons@3.20/gallon= $128.00/3 = $43.00/person
If you get 5 or 6 people then it gets better.

then you hope for good weather, nothing happens to the boat & motor, you can find your spot
....and pray to god and anyone else that the fish are biting.

Good weather is rare these days, there's two engines, and the GPS works great ;)
Nothing can predict what the fish are going to do. They wouldn't bite live pinfish at all that day, then they ate up the whole squid as long as the head was on it, then they went to sardines and didn't want the squid any more. Just have to keep trying different things.

yeah sometimes you got to give them the buffet. i hate it when they don't bite, esp when its good and calm weather. plus i get sea sick a lot. i used to get out there a lot during the week when i worked at the boat shop...the good ole days

you sonafabitch!! I expect a phone call next time. PM me the GPS coordinates, haha. Good trip man, i'm still thinking about taking the Skiff out St. Marks for some grouper. It's gotta be a smooth day though.
How deep of water were you in?

bryan if its calm and good weather you can take your boat out as far as the gas will let you. definitely want #'s and a good bottom machine. and running out from carrabelle will get you to deeper water quicker than st. marks.
i do know my sister's husband has a honey hole not far out of st. marks(i think 8 or 11 miles from the lighthouse) in about 25ft. that holds keeper grouper most times of the year. but those locations are kept super secret.
get a map of the artificial reefs around the coast. some of those inshore big structures hold good fish.

We were in 65ft of water, about 20 miles SSE of east pass.
Be careful going out right now. This winter weather can change up in a heart beat. We had some 6-8ft swells for about 2 hours and then subsided to 3ft. Last thing you want is to run out in 2-3ft and it turn ugly 20 miles out.
Looks like today and tomorrow are the days to go. Then again they called for 2 or less a few weeks ago and it was 4-6 :(
Thursday:
SOUTHEAST WIND 5 TO 10 KNOTS...BECOMING SOUTHWEST IN THE
LATE AFTERNOON. SEAS 1 TO 2 FEET. PROTECTED WATERS SMOOTH. AREAS
FOG...ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST.
Friday:
NORTHEAST WIND 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS 1 TO 2 FEET.
PROTECTED WATERS SMOOTH. AREAS OF DENSE FOG EARLY.

Nice catch. Do you guys ever fish in real deep water over there, say 200+. Since this car is nearly done, or at least driveable now, I hope to focus more on my boat in the spring. I am laways looking for people who fish regularly.

you'd need to look for people that fish towards mexico beach and destin area for that depth for a common fishing boat to reach. that depth is for bigger fishing boats imo that do a lot of trolling. bottom fishing for grouper is where its at imo.

We moved the boat from St. Marks to Carrabelle a few weeks ago. Since then, we've only been able to get out this one time because of the weather, and it was a little questionable. I would imagine come spring/summer, we'll be heading on out there a good bit.

Yeah my dad used to have a 20' Hydra Sports and we'd always go out Carrabelle b/c of the depth. We'd always limit out, about 12 miles out from dog island reef, near the k tower. The grouper are close right now, so it's the only time of year my little boat can make it within reason. I'll try one day this year, i have to pick a good one though.

yep, there is no better feeling then a big grouper hit while bottom fishing. It's you versus the world. There is no drag, i love it.
