I bent them by turning the car over by hand with less than half of them preloaded.

You bent them turning the motor over by hand? This does not sound good.

cam not too big

piston not meeting valves

this is the thing i dont get
if the pistons were meeting the valves, or there was coil bind, he wouldnt be able to turn it over by hand

i cant understandwhy the pushrods would bend like that

I was setting the lash and only had 6 valves set. Im going to try once more and then its over.

When are you going to try again? I would like to take a look at everything before you button it up.

I've been doing some research the only explanation that I've seen that is even remotely possible would be that he was sent defective lifters. Remember everything else he is using with the exception of pushrods was installed in my car.

I've also thought of one more possibility and that would be that the timing chain that he got is improperly machined completely screwing up the timing. I never really bought the valve lash problem because I as I've said before I tightened my rockers almost a full turn past zero lash because they are noisy SOB's. I am really at a loss. This is all I know for sure.

1. Timing is off completely for some reason or,
2. The camshaft is somehow giving way more lift than we think, lifters, pushrods too long, coil bind etc.

I just bought a set of stock pushrods from AutoZone and am going to throw them in the car in about a half an hour. If the bent, Ill take them back, they have a warranty, thats a plus. I will let everyone know how these poor pushrods turn out. I feel like Im leading a lamb to slaughter. If you want to head over to the house, Ill be there.
