i was wondering if you all have a clue as to where i could find a removable hardtop for a 98 conv. i know that ford came out with them around 96 as an option on cobras but never have seen an aftermarket version. i tried ford parts but got a runaround and was told for comparisons sake that the new t-bird's top cost around 5000+ so keep dreaming. would my only option be to track down one of the fockers who has a cobra from those years with that option and steal it from him?
help!

I think the 95 Cobra was the only Mustang it was offered on.

Greg is correct about the black-only 95 Cobra removeable hardtop option. However, there is a company in GA a few years ago that was making the removeable hardtops for the aftermarket. Haven't heard anything in a while about it, but I'll see if I can come up with something for ya.

EDIT: There were 499 of them made. You used to be able to get one from MPS in Marietta, GA for $2900 , but I can't even find it on their website anymore so they may have stopped carrying it. From my search on the Corral, it seems Cincinnati Composites (aftermarket company for VERY POOR fiberglass parts) was making them at some point but no hardware was included. If you wanted to make it work on your car you'd have to get the hardware from a wreck (you'll never find one) or fab something yourself (if you're so inclined and have the skills).

Ford is another source, but they are requiring that you provide them with the VIN from your car because they don't want to start putting them on non-original removeable hardtop cars. Exclusivity, you know (sheesh those guys are STUPID :mad1: !). Sounds like it would sell like hotcakes in CA and FL if the price was right. Somebody start making these things for a grand and I'm sure you'll sell a thousand of them.

Hope this helps.
