If you had read in an earlier post i made i had said i just bought a chip for my car, and everything was running good. Well i was driving today and the car started to drive funny and it felt like i lost about half my hp and the check engine light came on. I am fuckin pissed. I hate my engine!!!! All i have to say is im about to get a loan and solve my slowness problem for good.

last time i checked GT didnt stand for rice, GT-R or talons yes
and i can run with the 94-98s
the boost gauge does work, its not fake, i put it in because it would look dumb to have an empty hole.
i've got cobra brakes and swaybars, does that make me a fake cobra too?
or maybe im a fake mach 1 because i have a chin spoiler?

I can think of alot of cars that could be considered rice, like a talon with a red bumper that doesnt match the car, with front wheel drive, and a blow off valve that makes me think of the fast and furious. BUT MY CAR IS NOT RICE AND WILL NEVER BE RICE.

Russell, no offense man, but your car is the definition of rice. A lot of people associate the term "rice" only with big wings and fart cans. This is only half of the equation. True "rice" is a car that attempts to pass itself off as something it is not through the use of badges or performance items which it does not have.

GT badges on a V6 = rice. Cobra badges on a GT or V6 = rice. Boost gauge when your car is physically incapable of surpassing 0in-hg of vac = rice. Luis has a turbo in his car, therefore he can have a boost gauge. Your car looks good, but please, take the fake stuff off.

wow....this reminds me of the guy that came through the gate one night. when he came to the gate i saw a gt front fascia...but it had a big white sticker of a snake on the hood...and a snake where the gt should be. i was already irritable, so in a smartass tone i ask "is it a gt or cobra?" to see what his response was. it was "it was a gt, but the dealer put in a new 351 cobra motor."...."that a fact?" i say...so i tell him to pull over so i can see this "new 351 cobra motor." he pulls over and pops the hood...i tell him to get out and tell me what he sees...he doesnt know (suprise). i tell him what we have here is a bone stock 281 GT motor...
i shut his hood, and shook my head as i walked back to my post. the moral of the story is, if i rolled up on a mustang that had dual exhaust, GT badges and gauges on the a-pillar im gonna make assumptions. if i put buslengths on him, im gonna wonder what happened. my friend has a V6 firebird, but it looks like a ramair transam. but its a v6. it sounds good, and i can see where people would mistake it for a V8. but if you hear it on the road its def a v6. he wound up putting "SLOWV6" on the plates because people that did out run him got all cocky and he had to bring them down when he told them its "only a 6"...he went 14.1@99 last night on street tires last night btw.

I see your point, but I look at it as he is in the process of building his car the way he wants it step by step. Some people dont have the time and money to do everything at one time. So he threw the gauges on the car when he had some free time because he was putting the blower on sometime that month. I dont see anything wrong with that. I had fucking gauges in my car for at least a month because I was planning on putting the blower on. I ended up selling it before I put it on my car. So that would make me a ricer to. Which if thats what you think Ill just laugh at you.

As far as the GT look that russell went with I dont find anything wrong with it. So he bought a V6, and now he wants more power. Wishes maybe he had a GT, but didnt like the insurance payments? So the next best thing was to mod the one i have and atleast have it look like a GT. But now that im 20 and have some more money and no payments its time for a bigger motor. If anyone asks i tell them its a v6 and dont try to lie like that the guy back01gt posted about. so if that makes me rice then so are most of you.

Ok, you want to get technical. I had v6 badging. No Saleen badging aside from what was permanently imprinted in the bumper, which was an actual Saleen part. Not to mention it at least had a little something under the hood to back it up.

Do you have Bullitt badging on your car? No. What a completely irrelevant argument. Modifying your car is something that everyone interprets differently. Putting body kits on, or wheels, or body parts to change the appearance can be considered modification. Changing out badging is borderline, and only when the change is warranted. Simply doing so to pass your car off as something it is not is rice.

Despite the fact that altezzas (sp) are arguably the ugliest lights ever created, simply having them on your car does not make you a ricer. Poor taste? Yes. Rice? No.

Not that it's any of your business, but it comes from saving and investing since I was a little kid, supplemented by savings from working summers. I don't care where the money came from, but the fact is, you did the very thing you're accusing me of. You're right up there in the so-called "rare air" with me.

Everyone has their own definition of rice. Most of the time, it centers on the mindset of the car owner. There's a certain "ricer mentality" that sets them apart. However, most everyone will agree that false badging is a quick way to get CALLED rice, especially on slower cars, regardless of whether or not the driver is actually a ricer.

"Rice" isn't really a proper term for this. Putting false badging on a car is misrepresentation. Like Jess said, people think they beat a GT when they didn't, etc. I don't think Russell is a ricer, I simply disagree with passing off a slow car as something faster. This is why no one can say anything about Ryan's car. It's fast, so there's no problem on that end.

Even though the whole ricer connotation is silly, it seems to really get people upset, almost as much as calling a black guy the n-word. A little more tact in this area would probably be in order. I happen to agree with Jon about the badging - I don't agree in the manner in which he chose to voice his opinion.

Personally, where badging is concerned I like the opposite approach. Like removing the Z28 logo from the side and rear so at first glance people think your running a V6. I won't do it but I've seen it done and I've seen people surprised by it even to the point of a V6 stang driver picking a race at the track because of the lack of badging.
