I'm going up to Atlanta this weekend and there's a guy up in Chattanooga that has a used kit for sale cheap. No side covers, just the flowtubes, mufflers, and side pipes with tips.

Since my car isn't really a drag car [flame away], I think I want to try something a little different than the rest of the herd, even if I have to sacrifice a little ground clearance and power.

Could be fun. What do you guys think?

JD,

Not sure if it will fit with your subframe connectors. It wouldn't with mine.

Wouldnt you think it would be quite loud as it escapes rioght next to the door, and also you have to be careful to not burn yourself getting in and out (or near)

your interior noise will be a lot louder. i know it was for mine even with my little 4 banger. when i bagged mine i had to cut the exhaust off right past the muffler with a turndown. now it exits right behind my cab and its pretty loud. i can't imagine how loud its gonna be with the v8.

its not a real side pipe like on old vettes, its just side exit exhaust, it doesnt run down the the length of the door. The only way youre going to burn your leg on it is if you get on your knees and slide your leg into the exhaust tips that are right in front of the rear tires. And Chris, you can't say shit about it being loud.

Don't know how it could get much louder than longtubes with an offroad H and dumped flows. I'm gonna try it out and see if I like it. If not, I'll sell it. I could probably make a few bones since it's so cheap. For some reason, the guy doesn't want to ship it and nobody seems willing to go and get it without pics. If it's a piece of shit, I'll probably buy it for the tips (they're worth more than the price he wants).

Hopefully it'll work and I'll have it on at Hewtars next week. We shall see.... :bo:

Don't think it is going to clear your subframe connectors.

Hmm... Tom said the same thing. I wonder if it's worth the drive. Gonna have to do some more thinking about this one. I'm still running the stock 2.25" flow tubes (from H to mufflers for the unfamiliar). May consider using the flowtubes and the tips on the homemade side exhaust kit I was going to build. It would use new mufflers, exit the rear of the muffler and connect to U bends that would go around the back of the subframes and then turn out in front of the rear wheels.

I've seen this on a couple of Open Track cars and the owners rave about it. Gonna have to see this thing in person to determine whether I can use it. Looks like I'm going for a drive tomorrow morning. Good time of the year to see the mountains in Tennessee. ;)

That sounds like a good idea. You need to change those flow tubes asap!
