I installed a cd player and new speakers in the truck, everything works fine except I ran into a problem with the door speakers, namely, they don't fit. They are the correct size, just the design of the speaker doesn't fit through the hole in the door. I ended up just taping off the factory wires and just running on the rears (which sounds a hundred times better then the original setup).
Anyway, all that was just to ask how much you think it would cost to have a custom instal done to get these fuckers to fit. Be realistic, not what you could get your buddy to do it for. I don't think a whole lot of work is required, I'd even be fine with cutting through the door panel and using the new speakers grill, whatever needs to be done.

what part of them doesnt fit, are they too deep or too wide or what

They are too wide, but it's not the cone thats too wide, it's the correct side, it's all the other bullshit thats too wide. It's got like plastic fins or something, I'm not up to speed on speaker terminology, but its like the body of the speaker itself.

I first installed 6 1/2 inch door speakers into a 93 escort that was a wierd bolt patern...."S"
I had to drill a 4th hole into the door to mount them.
Maybe thet same situation you have.

My issue is that the body of the speaker is too wide for the factory hole, and is like 2 inches away from the holes to screw it in,

2 INCHES away in what direction.....OUT (as in the bolt isnt long enough) or WIDE (as in youre trying to put a 7 inch speacker ina 6 inch hole)
EDIT: Take into account Im pretty drunk.

i think the round plastic on the speaker is bigger than the factory speakers. Right ? If So
you gonna have to cut the hole bigger

Winner. I know this. Now how much does that cost because I can't do it myself. I have neither the tools, nor the space.

the only tool you need is a hand held jigsaw and you dont need any more space than where ever your truck is parked
you have to be able to get your hands on one of these

Shut the fuck up Bryant 2.0, I asked what it would cost to have this done and instead was told to do it myself even after saying that wasn't an option twice, once in really big fucking letters. The last thing I ever want to hear is anything out of your fucking cock holster.

wow that military shit must be gettin to your head huh you little brat bitch. Why are you coming on here asking prices? what the fuck is this a stereo shop? Why dont you just ask travis im sure hes probably the only person on here who is going to know anything about a price. otherwise just suck it the fuck up or shove the speakers up your ass.

You're right, I'm sure Travis is the only one who has ever dealt with car audio on this entire forum. Go the fuck away, things were better when you knew nobody liked you. I guess you forgot that.

LOL me? Maybe you are confusing yourself. I do recall people making fun of your dumbass on a daily basis. But I really dont get what ur trying to say with "things were better when no one liked you". What does that mean people do now and you dont like it or ....what? Now id sit on here and humor myself and make you looks like the retard you are, but I have to get up in a few hours. If your still around tomorrow acting like a baby, Ill see you then. Til then have fun doing nothing and crying about your speakers and not doing it urself

It must be nice to be completely clueless. Internet =/= real life.
Next time you feel the need to share you opinion with me, shut your fucking mouth before it ever opens.

gunna cost more then asking a friend to use some tool or rent some. nuff said. better yet if the holes for the speakers dont all fit around the hole then screw 2 of them in real tight and youll be good. but a pic would help

ANYWHO. Stop the flame war and let's hop back on the topic.
X obviously wants to contract one of you car audio gents out to his house to fix his shit because he has neither the tools nor the space nor the time to deal with his problem.
X, can you post a pic of the speakers and try to show us what's not fitting? Maybe even a fitment pic?

I'm on a goddamn air force base. My truck sits 3 football fields away in a giant parking lot patrolled by SF douche-bags who gave me shit for just having the door panels off in the parking lot. I can't run a fucking power tool out there and start hacking shit up.
If I wanted to know how to do it myself, I would have asked that.

Er. Sorry. Didn't mean to come off as an ass there, I was really trying to help.
Again, can you get some pics of the fins you're talking about on the speaker housing?

If a shop has to cut the hole and mount/wire the speaker, they're going to charge you labor and probably give you some bs estimate of 2 hours or something. I don't know what labor goes for there, but it'll probably cost you over $100 easy.
That sucks that you can't do shit in the parking lot. WTF do they expect you to do if you're shit breaks down and it's an easy fix? I'd throw the panels in the bed, whip out the saw and start hacking away at the shit. You don't need to make it look pretty, cause ain't no one gonna see it.
On another note, you could maybe get a dremmel and smooth out the speaker? I don't know just throwing some ideas your way.

You'll use a cordless Dremel for more than just this project if you were to get one. No cords to run across the parking lot, just need to open the door. I'd say if you can find the time to get one of those and open the hole some, that would be your best course of action. Take a picture of what we're dealing with here. One of the hole, one of the back of the speaker, one of the speaker going as far as it will into the hole as it is now.
Regardless of your desire(or need as the case may be at this point) to take it someplace to get it done, it'll be far less of a headache to do it yourself with the right equipment to fit your current situation. Not because of the fuckhead retards who can't read and said to do it yourself without thinking, but because I actually showed you a possibly viable option given your circumstances.

best buy quoted me $42 per set to install speakers in my car. (2) 6.5's.

We charge between $65-75 per pair to cut speakers holes and install the speaker. As opposed to just $35-45 to install. But car audio places vary so much that you could find some crackhead with a tent who would charge $20 OR an overpriced place like Sound Advice who would start at $100 if they will even take a sharp blade to some metal in the first place.
Are the holes big enough but something behind the speaker makes it not seat fully? Or is it just plain not big enough? Be sure to inspect behind the panel before doing any cutting, they like to hide wires and power window motors behind the first layer of metal. Also watch out for the actual glass itself as they typically curve at the bottom where the speaker is and so it won't have the same clearance with the inner door skin as at the top. Lastly when cutting the hole, less is more....you can't add the metal back.

Find the Auto Hobby Shop, use it often. Best prices on earth for lifts and tool rentals.
