View Full Version : So I guess the blower didn't add much power to my 88...

Pulled the Vortech the other day and we dyno'd it N/A tonight. It's still on 110 octane fuel so that doesn't help but dang what a difference lol.

Wow, half the power, LOL!

not bad for a N/A H/C/I/E/T car.... bracket race it..... it should have no problems blowing through the converter or blowing the tires off leaving hard.....
does it still have the 40whatever pound injectors in it? how was the A/F?

Is the 100 octane stealing 50whp?

There are a few factors stealing 50 or better HP. The AF was almost dead on after a couple of tweaks. The 110 octane is a big factor. The lower compression for the blower definantly hurts. The injectors are still in it, but like I said earlier the AF is ok.

60# injectors and plugs gap'd @ .030.

Just guessing since it's been a while, but around 9:1.

So that's not "low compression"...that's right around the stock compression ratio. I know stock '93 Cobra's were 9.0:1
Edit: I guess you meant the relatively low compression combined with extra high octane is killing it??
The combo of low comp, high octane, small plug gap, heads ported for forced induction, etc. It's all part of the equation.
Stock 302 bottom end (pistons are in the hole, lowering compression)
Heads are hog'd out big time for a blown 351 (not good for n/a air flow)
Since the heads where ported the chambers where opened up also, TW heads untouched are 61 cc. Mine are probably closer to 64-66.
So using the 64cc chamber the compression computes out to 8.73:1. 66cc = 8.54:1.

what kind of intake and cam? that seems really low to me, since Ive seen cars make 280hp with a iron head/explorer intake and an old ots cam and well over 300ft. whatever that quiet whistling noise should make some hp lol..
TFS Stage 1 cam
E-broke Performer II intake
Of course it's low, it is NOT A N/A ENGINE COMBO! :)
