What do the bike fellas on here think of an 02 gsf600s as a first bike?

I think it is a good first bike, my friend had it as a first bike. but my other friend and I always made fun of him for it since we all got 1200 bandits as our first and were always faster and he was always trying to keep up. :)

That was my first bike. Its quick enough to start off on and they make mods for it so when you get tired of it you can always make it faster.

No no no no no. Just no.
SV650. Alot more fun, alot more potential, alot more possibilites, alot cheaper parts, you name it.
Even coming from all 192 horsepower of my bike, I have fun everytime I ride an SV.

SV650 look like ass, i hate naked bikes, and it's not about speed to me, so i don't need the power argument, or modding argument because i'm not going to mod, and yes thanks guys, really smart to get a liter bike or busa for my first bike, appreciate the help

The only reason I said that is seems most get a 600 and right when they get confident on it are trying to get rid of it and jump on a liter bike.

I ride a gsx600f, which is damn near the same bike as the gsf, just a bit differnet looking. Its a great first bike, and plenty fast to kill yourself on. If in the future you want something faster then the 1200 bandit engine is a direct bolt-in.
I would also agree that a sv650 is a great bike. Find an S model and it will have fairings on it.

Not all SVs are naked.
I never said anything about speed...My point with the power is that the SV is a v-twin with alot of low end grunt as opposed to the rest. Excellent for driving in traffics, on the hills of Tally, etc. It'd be alot easier around town.

I've had/ridden a bunch of different bikes and the SV650 sticks out in my mind as one of the most fun bikes I have ever been on. They can go pretty quick, cheap and easy to fix, light and handle like nothing else!
+ a bazillion for the SV!

meh, no point, gas is too damn expensive, i hate driving already, and then the chances of it breaking are alot, so keeping it stock is fine with me

it all matters on how you handle the bike and how your ride it, as long as your safe and considerate it should not matter what bike you get but before any bike I recomend the safety course it will teach you a bunch of stuff that is extreamly important and stuff that will keep you safe

As of July 1st it is manditory for all new motorcyclists to do the safety cource. Contact this website to sign up for it. www.floridasaferider.com
I would recomend taking it in Monticello because the course is taught by retired motorcycle cops and officer Friendly knows his shit.
I have a 05' Suzuki SV650S for sale with 2,000 miles on it for $4,500. It's at the shop I work for. Call me if you are interested.
