very soon im going to have two empty bedrooms in my house. one of which is going to be the stereotypical guest bedroom. as for the other one im at a loss

the goal here is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.

i know what the obvious most suggested answer is going to be so we can leave that one out, but what kinda options would you guys suggest. the room is roughly 14'x14'

any ideas

If I were to take a guess Game room was the #1 suggested choice he was talking about. If it were mine I would make it an office area on one side and a small parts area on the other. Like with a small TV to watch while you port TBs or whatever. Take the carpet up, assuming its carpeted, so the metal shavings clean up easy and the desk chair rolls easy. 14x14 is a decent sized room.

If your TV is in the living room (like most people) you can move it to the other room and make it the entertainment room (game room, whatever).

Thats the way my house is set up (thanks to my wife).

Makes the living room much warmer and gives you a room to sit and talk when company comes over and whatnot.

I didnt' like it at first but I love it now.

I doubt that. How are the walls/windows/light levels? You could setup a semi-respectable home theater for under a grand....but Id imagine that violates the biggest constraint. Kegerator and wet bar also come to mind but again $$$.

Find a used foosball/air hockey/ping pong table.

Build a new secret wall to the room so that no one knows its there.

Then deck it out with chains and leather whips with a big screen Tv and Porn.

Add a few hookers and Bam, secret sex room.

Or game room, whatever.

If you use it for a business, I think it qualifies as a partial rent or mortgage tax deduction.

Game/bar room might be fun.

Whatever kind of room you choose I would suggest, (and no I'm not gay), watch a few of the design shows on HGTV. The one show "Design on a Dime" has some pretty good ideas about how to make a room look good for cheap. As for the room function, figure out the second best thing you like to do indoors, (we already know what the first is), and maybe go with that. If it was me I'd try and make it as multi-purpose as possible, some of the shows I've seen on HGTV help with that too.

HGTV isn't as bad as it sounds, you just have to get used to the idea that it seems like quite a few of the really cool homes are inhabited by people that like to call each other "Partner", and no I don't mean as in a professional relationship.

Kenny, I told you it's not gay to watch HGTV!
