Valve Springs!! It HAS to be... it better be :D On the Crane cams site it describes my truck's symtoms exactly and says they are often attributed to fuel or ignition problems! I'm going back home tuesday to have the shop take a look at it. They said that they would make it right. Since it would rev to 4500 fine before, the spring specs SHOULD be alright for my mild cam (I'm also getting all of the specs for it as well). On the crane site they mentioned that impropper installation could cause a spring to perform poorly, exactly what would have to be done wrong to cause that. I want to provide them with as muhc info as possible when I go. Hopefully they can correct the problem. If I need new valve springs however, what company should I go with. Crane will recommend a spring if you provide them with the cam specs, but I am sure comp can as well.

Thanks!

Chase

I went with Comp stuff to match the cam but Crane makes stuff with equal quality to Comp.

i am soon to be using crane springs

do you have an aftermarket cam in your truck, if not i dont see how you could be getting valve float, although i guess anything is possible

yeah, i have an aftermarket cam. thats what lead me to this conclusion (along with the help of Ben's Uncle who used to build heads for NHRA Harleys, and the Crane website). I'll hopefully know for sure tomorrow.

It was lean. According to the shops diagnostic tool it was running lean, and then I pulled one of my spark plugs and it was DEFINITELY white (after i did a couple full throttle runs. I also did some researching and leanred that if it was valve float that it would stop revving at the same point regardless of throttle input or even if it was in nuetral, is this correct. It will rev fine up to the limiter in nuetral, and it will go past 4000 no problem in gear if I use about 80% throttle. So I am resonably sure it is a lack of fuel... again. I also get a "pop" or two from the intake side (it seems) when my loss of power occurs, what would that indicate? What are some other symptoms of valve float other than inability to rev past a certain point, what does it sound like?
Thanks,
Chase
