When some rice licker in an off-white 350Z almost takes out me and my kids on Lakeshore yesterday doing about 90....I've had about enough.
I'm sure someone on this board knows who it is - one word of advice, get some real balls and take it to track day somewhere where the only person you'll kill is yourself...
I know several motorcycle guys have lost their lives on that road, but I can't imagine the carnage that would happen if this douche-bag really lost it and went through someone's house.

Apparently people like that always think they're in control all the way up to the point where they aren't.
Now, I'm not encouraging this but, I worked with a woman who's neighborhood had a tough time with kids racing and speeding down the streets at night. A few of the residents started placing 10-12 inch tall dark rocks in the road after hearing them make a pass down the street. After a few of them had their oil pans ripped open, they stopped coming around. It was no more intelligent/safe than the idiots speeding, but was a cool story.
It's too bad that something like that would probably put a 90mph idiot into someone's living room.

Actually not my neighborhood...I was just coming back from Guitar Center on Lakeshore with my 2 kids.
Said douche-bag was coming the opposite way on Lakeshore. He was coming through the real tight 90 deg. corner about 1/4 mile off Meridian half sideways, looking like he had a hard time keeping the car under him.
Like I said -I'm all about going fast (ask Matt aka "OnthegasinFL") and crashing (you can ask Matt about that too). But pick the right place (maybe HWY12) and time (around 2 am) when the chances of you killing someone besides yourself is significantly reduced. Better yet - - take it to a track - - then you'll just bust up the shit you own.

i used to sit in a lawn chair right by the side of the road and lob tennis balls of the windshield of people that would haul ass down the street in front of my house growing up.
we lived on a corner too and people always used to cut through the grass on the corner in their cars when turning. a few well hidden and strategically placed jagged rocks fixed that quick

Some little kid in Orlando was hit in his front yard when a guy ran off the road. He hit another parked car and pinned the kid between them (he died before help got there) all he was doing was playing in the front yard after his family had been at the beach. Dude that ran off the road got out then got back in and left but they caught him thankfully.

Lakeshore can be a dangerous road. It has decreasing radius and off camber turns. I have many friends who have had trouble navigating the road when driving too fast.

Structure is fine... spelling is 'than'. The question still doesn't make any sense.

Well I don't know what 'off camber' turns are but i've known some drunken idiots than have run their trucks off of that first nasty turn.

08-12-2008, 08:27 AM
An off camber turn is when the outside of the turn is lower than the inside.
The car will have less lateral grip on an off camber turn then a flat turn or on camber (or banked) turn.

But I've been riding a bike for a few days now, and I've already had two instances where drivers acted like I wasn't even there. The first instance was a soccer mom driving a van passing on Crawfordville Highway. If I had been driving a car I would have had to drive on the shoulder to avoid a head on collision. The second incident happened yesterday evening, a car pulled out of Tekesta onto Bannerman, again like I didn't even exist. Pretty amazing considering that my bike is bright red, as is my jacket. Kind of makes me wonder what people are thinking, or maybe not thinking.

Thanks. This is my first street bike and I can already see that riding takes my complete attention - you can't casually cruise down the road like in a car. I ride like everyone is out to kill me, constantly maneuvering to put myself in a space on the road where I have an out. I also have a great respect for the power capabilities of the bike itself, frankly it scares the crap out of me, and I hope I stay that way.

Yeah the mid-life crisis continues....Just got tired of driving a V6 Pickup, (Shane drives the Mitsu for now), and wanted to get something now. I'd actually been thinking about if for awhile, finally decided what the hell. I took it for a cruise down highway 98 last Saturday and had the most fun I've had in a long while. I really am being careful though, the thing scares me - I've never been on anything that will get you to triple digit speeds so quickly, and I haven't taken it above 8K yet.

The only working out I've been doing for the last six months has been 12 oz curls. My right shoulder is tweaked, so I need to really modify my workout until I get it fixed. The bike is more comfortable than I thought, but I'll admit my thumbs were a little sore after 200 miles in one day - back was fine.
