Ok - so the head unit in my 02 GT bit the dust (the CD player anyway). So I'm looking to replace it with a decent double DIN head unit. Anyone got any ideas (or deals) they can pass on?

Touchscreen would be cool - but not necessary, don't own an iPod, but USB or SD card compatible would be cool. I do have an XM subscription on my other car so that could be cool too but not a total necessity...

I have a Pioneer avic-d3 in my 06 GT and absolutely love it. I have the ipod hook up (I know you don't need that) and the bluetooth handsfree wireless setup and it rocks. The navigation on this is pretty accurate and the sound quality increased 5 fold from what the factory shaker 500 system was. I'd highly recommend it.

They are pretty cool - I was going to put one of those in my street rod. I am looking for a little more economical (maybe $200 range).

Any comments on the discount brands (Pyle, Boss, XO, Power Akoustic, etc) - do they totally suck, or OK for a lower end stuff?

I would not buy a discount brand. I would rather have a entry level unit from a good company like Alpine, Eclipse, or Pioneer then a unit with more features from one of those you listed.

That Pioneer is one I was looking at to when I eventually switch to a Double Din. Stay with the name brands.
