I'm definitely Not a Mac person. More Linux than Windows even. As far as phones go the iPhone blows the doors off anything I've ever owned, including a few high end Blackberries. They're not BSing on the commercials when they say "there's an app for that". I've got a 3G but and still on the fence about going with the 3GS unless AT&T will give up a discount to make me feel like I'm not getting reamed too bad.

Anyway, here's a link for the comparison between the two:

If I didn't have to switch carriers I'd get it. I might anyway. Depends, my contract is about to expire with T-mobile. It's hard to pass up 49.99 for unlimited anytime minutes though :-/

if you bought it from a retailer/apple, there should be a 2 week "hassle free" return policy that wont get you hit with restocking fees. its worth a try, but then again you might have gotten it online or something...:hobo:

I work for AT&T and we had a conference call about this yesterday. If you bought the phone within the past 30 days, you can either return it and pay the restocking fee and get a 3GS or you can keep it and AT&T will refund the difference to your account.

As far as being close to the pre, I think the pre actually syncs with itunes and there are hardly any applications for it that won't make it crash.

That sounds a lot like AT&T propaganda. All I know is this new 3Gs better be able to handle more than 1 app at a time. It boggles the mind to think Apple would ignore multitasking, something almost every other smartphone can do. What good is a pseudo-computer in your pocket if it can only do one thing at a time? Actually, calling it a smartphone is incorrect, the iPhone is a cellphone with apps. Now having said all that I would trade my multitasking HTC Touch for an iPhone in a heartbeat.

I like my HTC Touch Pro - I could never get an iPhone for lack of a keyboard. I tried a touchscreen, took me 10 minutes to respond to one email - mini keyboard - I'm done in like 90 seconds...

I didn't see anything about apps causing the phone to crash? I didn't read it word for word, but every app he mentioned worked.

No phone will ever be able to compete with the Apple App Store, but plenty of phones have all of the useful apps of the app store and are now passing the iPhone by with hardware, UI and battery life.

This is the article I was looking for. This is from The Wall Street Journal. It talks about problems with the Pre App store about 1/3 of the way down.

I am not a Mac fanboy and I am not a windows hater. My daily computer is a MacBook i run exclusively windows on....probably have not booted to the Mac OS in more then a year. I have owned 2 windows smartphone and right now have a iPhone. I ran custom ROMs and regular ROMs on my smartphone. My iPhone is much more stable. The battery life is fine...it has never died on me if i just charge it when I go to bed. Only when I forget to charge it will it come close to going dead. When that happens I just plug it into something USB which I seem to always have around....computer, laptop, even my xbox will charge my phone.

I like this phone way more then i wanted to...honestly.

Ditto.
I don't like Macs at all, Except for playing Oregon Trail back in school.
But hats off to my Iphone, Best phone I've ever had. There's a software update coming the 15th (3.0) that will cure many of the issues people have with Iphones.

Just my 2 cents, I'm writing this from my Pal Pre and I can say I really like it. I'm also listening to pandora and text messaging all at the same time. Does the IPhone do that?
