Bryant (lazer01cobra) and I spent yesterday swapping my solid axle for his IRS. Wasn't too bad of a swap. The only real modding I had to do was bend up a couple of new brake lines, flare the ends, and tie the emergency brake cables away from each tire since they were rubbing a bit. Also, the IRS cars have a slightly different exhaust setup, so we had to swap catbacks too (temporarily). That's really all it took to make the IRS work on the '96. The rest of it was a total bolt-on. The 8.8 solid went right into his car with no modifications.

Impressions:
I rode in his car before the swap, and it was really smooth. He was running Steeda springs with the stock dampers. Now that it's in my car with the '03 Bilstein shocks, I have to say it is a nice difference. The car stays really flat through turns, doesn't bounce over bumps, and overall is a significant improvement in the quality/feel of the car. I have to go get a 4 wheel alignment done now, but that's free since I bought a lifetime 4 wheel alignment earlier this month.

The Bassani sounds pretty good on my car too ;). It's kinda quiet at idle, but really roars when you get into it. For now, Bryant is going to run my old Flows 'til he can get something else.

Bryant had this big grin after going down the street and back with the solid axle. He got in it twice and nearly turned the car sideways both times before the car finally hooked and nearly yanked him into the back seat.

 Procharger + 4V + 4.10's = wheelspin from hell  .

:bs: Bo, you're always welcome in my garage!
(note to all freaks: there is no gheyness intended in that statement so don't EVEN start that shit :p ).

Thanks guys. It worked out really well. Got the 4-wheel alignment done last night and it's really nice. Got a creak in the right side that I need to chase down, but other than that it's great.

Took it out on the highway to see about high-speed vibes since I'd read about a lot of folks having trouble with that. Went to 100 and there was no abnormal vibration of any kind (none different than my two solid axle cars anyway). Now for an aluminum driveshaft to eliminate the tiny vibes and I'll be able to build card houses on the dash on the way to Atlanta

Bo is actually pretty good at turning wrenches. He helped me quite a bit during my cam and opti swap. He's welcome in my garage, (driveway), any time.
