I think you should take a close look at it in person. I for one wouldn't advertise a car as "average" if I were trying to sell it, especially with only 50k on it.

Liabilty only, the car is paid for therefor I dont have to have full coverage. I figure that if I do something stupid enough to get in a wreck, Ill pay for it myself and so far its worked out pretty damn good(knock on wood). The company name is Nationwide Insurance.

Honestly, the quote you got isnt that bad. You are a young male, thet are going to get you no matter what. Its something you are going to have to live with if you want a car like that. Now if you want to get a fox body or a older 4th gen camaro like mine(they are everywhere for 4k, 5k, and 6k) the insurance wouldnt be as much. Granted, when buying a lil older car like that, you could be buying trouble so its all hit or miss when it comes to that. I know it sucks without a car but my advise to you is, look around, for a long time if you have to and eventually you will find exactly what you want. That is exactly what I did and I think I have had pretty good luck when it comes to buying cars.

Get the VIN from the seller and run a CarFax on it BEFORE you go down there. Print it out and take it with you so you can confirm the VIN yourself when you see the car.

The reason for this is that it's easy for an unscrupulous seller to find another Cobra with the same color and year that hasn't been in a wreck and give that car's VIN until you sign the papers (when all you are thinking about is money and getting the car and not about whether or not he lied). You're thinking you're looking at the same car as the CarFax, but you're really not. :bs:

Greg is right about being wary after reading the seller's text. "Average condition" may just mean that for the number of years and mileage, it's not any better or worse than it should be at this point. Then again, it could mean that it just sux. :???:

I hope you get it, and that it turns out to be the perfect car. We just want to make sure you don't get screwed, so we're just being the voice of reason for ya. We've been there too and know how bad you want it. Have fun. [/gramps mode]

car looks nice--200 miles away, but where exactly? insurance quote seems high unless you've got a bad driving record or your really young. my insurance is cotton states and i pay $650 for six months and thats for 2 cars--my ss, which has full coverage and my cherokee which has as little coverage as possible. my driving record isn't spotless but i am a little older :-o

I have State Farm and when I lived in Tallahassee I spoke with Tom over in Killearn. If you stack a couple of cars under your dad's name it should only be around $150. When I had my camaro with 2 speeding tickets my premiums came out to be only $113.48 per month stacked with full coverage. See what your agent can do for you. If not, when you turn 18 get something cheaper :headbang: !

yeah definitly check Carfax for odometer fraud. Unless it was garage kept and driven rarely that odomoter reading seems way too low.

Looks good though man, hope you get it.
