well man i have a gt will blown rings and i have no clue.lolwhat year is your car? if you get a 99-up GT shortblock, its gonna really lower your compression if you have a 96-98 with the stock heads.

T, hey man thanks for helping me out. I bought the car and the guy told me that there was a plastic intake manifold on the engine and well it cracked and it was replace but the car had water/antifreeze come out of the exhaust. well my dad thinks that it is cracked again. and that is why i am not getting any blow by. Does anyone know Mustang Gt's well?

If the engine is screwed the problem is finding an engine. I never thought they would be that expensive. The only thing i can come up w/ is a 99 Gt motor w/ 30,000 mi and they want $1,400. 90 day warranty and this is a salvage yard motor. I would hate to put in a motor that is just as bad as the one i got.

I was saying if you got a new motor I would be able to take your old one out and put the new one in. I know the 2V intakes are prone to cracking with nitrous, but havent heard them just crack for no reason. Maybe some of the 2V guys will chime in and give some better info. If it was me I would take the intake off and check it for cracks and see if you can find where the problem is. And a 99+ motor would be great for you. You would notice a considerable power increase.

but would a 99+ motor work without changing anything?

Id have to check to be absolutely positive, but I think so. Where are all the 2V guys?

I was bored so I did a little research....

someone found a motor for 900 bucks with less than 10k miles on: www.car-parts.com

----------info------------
"In a nutshell, you will use EVERYTHING externally from your motor, the only thing from the new motor that should go on in is the intake/block/heads, you get the idea, you will need to buy a '01+ motor and use your valve covers, or else the pcv valve and oil fill will be on opposite sides they are now, and the pcv piping will be wrong."

"Swap the oil pans: the 96's had oil sensor in the pan and the newer ones don't

Be careful, the 01 I bought luckily had a 6 bolt flywheel, so I am going to resurface the flywheel that came with the motor and still be able to use my 10.5" Spec clutch and pressure plate assembly

Swap the fuel rails as the new engines are returnless

Some people tell you to swap the front timing covers, but I am leaving the 01 cover on. The only reason for swapping is so you will have somewhere to bolt your coil packs onto, but there are bolts already in the new engines and you will simply need to shim the coil pack holders so that they clear the belt"

"I used my old timing cover so I could keep buying '97 parts, didnt want to always have to know if I needed '97 or '02 part, using your old timing cover keeps the coil pack mounts, as well as allows you to still buy '97 serpantine belt, instead of needing always to buy '02 belt, also, the water pumps are different, so didnt want to have to buy new '01 1/2 pullies because of water pump, so I put my old water pump in too."

Basically in '01 some of the 2V motors have a 6 bolt crank, some have an 8 bolt. So if you get a motor with an 8 bolt crank you wont be able to use the one from your motor. All 2Vs prior to 01 are 6 bolt all after are 8 bolt.

You would have to swap over your fuel and ignition system.

Some people say to swap over the timing cover and front accessories, others say you dont have to. It seems like its an option and you cant mix and match.

It all seems pretty straight forward. Just need to look out for what year motor you are getting and whether its an 8 bolt or not. If it is an 8 bolt you want it to come with a flywheel if possible.

Everything else is just a straight swap for the most part.

You also have to drill the intake for a second coolant sensor. Any 96-98 headswapped car has had to do this. The 99+ only have one as the 96-98 have two. A machine shop can do this easily.
